*Volunteer Position*
Peoria Park District - Golf Division
Season: March through December
*Must work at least 12 hours a week.
Qualifications: Knowledge and Ability- Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to represent the Peoria Park District and insure that the District's policies are followed in a firm, friendly, and totally impartial manner. Ability to work harmoniously with Peoria Park District personnel and to deal effectively with the public.
Personal – Work/Volunteer record that shows dependability, neat appearance, pleasing personality, and courteous manner. Personal integrity, initiative, and resourcefulness and ability to deal with others are prime requisites.
Duties: Under the supervision of the Golf Course Professional, the Starter:
Shall be stewards of the starting times in accordance with the policies established by the Peoria Park District.
Maintains order and control of the 1st and 10th tees while being alert to all activity in the tee areas.
Shall be friendly, courteous and impartial in all contacts with golfers. The starter’s manner and positive attitude is paramount in setting the tone for the customer’s stay.
Will be especially watchful for new players and/or visiting golfers to ensure that they will not be overlooked because of their lack of understanding of our procedures.
Will display a pleasant and easy-going manner with the public in all situations. Displaying an honest and helpful attitude when working with all players is important to the atmosphere of the tee area.
Will work closely with the marshal to alert the marshal of potential rule infractions, such as a group observed to be slow when teeing off.
Will be aware that he and the marshal should be continually educating the players to the policies of the course.
Will, at times, assume marshal responsibility.
Starters and marshals should work as a team at all times.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Ability to bend and stoop.
Ability to drive an park golf cards to and from storage area.
Ability to operate a telephone and walkie talkie.
Must be able to distinguish colors.
TO RETAIN GOLF PRIVILEGES: Volunteer must volunteer at least 12 hours per week, per manager schedule; 24 hours in one pay period. (Season is March through December, or until the end of the golf season.)
VOLUNTEER PRIVILEGES: Green fees are waived for Golf Volunteers. (No charge.)
Volunteers pay $4.00 for the use of golf cars. If two volunteers are riding together, each volunteer will pay $2.00.Volunteers shall pay all required fees and register with the Pro Shop staff before the round.
Range privilege – $1.00 for one (1) any-sized bucket of range balls per day.
Pro Shop Merchandise - Volunteers shall receive a pro shop merchandise discount of 20%. (This can be applied and used in conjunction to sales, specials, loyalty points etc.)
Loyalty Points - Volunteers can earn loyalty points, which can be redeemed for pro shop purchases.
Volunteer's season golf pass will expire when they are done working at the end of the season
