EXT. REINHARDT ACADAMY – DAY

The cadets of ReinhardtAcademy, in full dress uniform stand at attention waiting patiently as Head Master Eric Yates stands at the podium. A whole year of studies and training is about to payoff for the second year cadets as the Head Master announces…

HEAD MASTER YATES

Congratulations, Second Year Cadets!

All of the cadets throw their hats into the air as their vacation officially begins.

As the parents parade their young teenagers around the event with pride, taking pictures and filming the event

Cass and her cute friends approach Lucy as she works with a hand held device to upgrade the specs of her latest invention.

CASS

Hey nerd! Where’s Ryan?

LUCY

How many times do I have to tell you that boy needs a challenge not a cheerleader.

Jenny butts in.

JENNY

What are you working on this time?

LUCY

A device that gets rid of eye sores.

Lucy points the device at the group of girls and clicks a button.

LUCY

Obviously there’s a short somewhere.

CASS

If you get the chance, spread the word to the DORK PATROL that I’m having a party at my house. Ryan is invited, and only Ryan.

Martin, with zero confidence, is waiting his turn to talk toLucy. In disappointment Lucy rolls her eyes up and watches the Pep-Squad walk away.

LUCY

Hello Martin.

MARTIN

Hey,Lucy. Is this a bad time?

LUCY

No Martin, I’m just upgrading my specs for tomorrow’s event.

MARTIN

Oh, okay.

There is an awkward silence between the two of them.

MARTIN

Yeah, so, where’s Ryan?

LUCY

Is there something else I can help you with?

Martin gets scared and slowly walks away.

EXT.FORESTOUTSIDECITY LIMITS OFTABOR – DAY

Ryan walks through the forest in full dress uniform surrounded by trees and no signs of civilization. The wind blows over Ryan’s face and hair. Something interrupts the winds current, alerting him to danger. The young warrior unsheathes his sword.

RYAN

Gotcha!

Ryan spins around to see his assailant leaping at him from above.

General Ida Soto clashes swords with Ryan and leaps back to the side of a tree. Ryan prepares himself for another attack. The General leaps off of the tree and spears her sword at Ryan’s chest.

Sparks flare off the two blades as Ryan crosses swords with the General. He kicks her into a tree.

Using her extensive battle experience she drops to the ground as his sword pierces the truck of the tree. One leg sweeps the young man off of his feet and the other leg launches Ryan into a tree behind him.

RYAN

Ah!

Looking up, the vision of Soto flying at him gears up his alertness. Using his opponent’s weight against her, he grapples the General’s shoulder and rolls back to launch her into the air.

GENERAL SOTO

AH!

Ryan springs back to his feet and charges at Soto as the General comes to a landing on the ground. On her feet like a cat she looks up. Determination on the young mans face to defeat his opponent has placed victory in her hands.

The untamed boy leaps into the air and kicks at Soto’s head. She rolls underneath Ryan and flips backwards onto his shoulders as his feet land onto the ground. Her toes dig into his side and using to momentum of her leap carries Ryan off of his feet, spins 180 degrees, lands on her hands and fires Ryan like a cannonball into the trunk of a tree.

RYAN

Urgh!

Hitting the trunk of the tree at his rate would have normally wounded a soldier internally. The fight grows cold as he sits up, back against the tree with Soto’s blade at his throat.

No fear, just disappointment in his inability to control the outcome of the fight. Soto smiles and offers her free unoccupied hand to her finest student.

GENERAL SOTO

Well?

RYAN

You beat me.

General Soto helps Ryan to his feet. He begins to dust himself off.

GENERAL SOTO

How did I beat you?

RYAN

Through deception and trickery.

She is not amused.

RYAN

I assumed weakness in my opponent and tried to exploit it.

GENERAL SOTO

And?

RYAN

You beat me.

GENERAL SOTO

And?

RYAN

And you suck.

GENERAL SOTO

Which means that you…

RYAN

Don’t.

Ryan walks away from the General, now angered with his flip answer.

GENERAL SOTO

Ryan, you know you are my best student.

Ryan stops walking and looks sad.

GENERAL SOTO

You should have gone to your graduation.

RYAN

I know, but today…

GENERAL SOTO

Is a day your father would have been proud. He would have wanted to have watched your graduation. If he knew that I was knocking you around in a forest he would kill me.

RYAN

I just need to take this day to remember him. Every year that goes by I remember less and less of him. I’m afraid that one day I won’t remember him at all.

General Soto understands his dilemma, but refuses to let Ryan throw away his youth.

GENERAL SOTO

Then you need to do something that will make you feel good tomorrow.

RYAN

I’m going to the fair tomorrow, don’t worry. I just needed to release some tension.

GENERAL SOTO

Good, because I was afraid that I was going to be forced to dance with Mr. Frost.

RYAN

I’m not going to the dance tomorrow, and I’m not going to challenge Boomer either.

Ryan begins to walk away.

GENERAL SOTO

But that kid really creeps me out.

RYAN

(as he walks away)

Then why did you agree to the prize?

GENERAL SOTO

Because your daft Headmaster forced me.

RYAN

Not my problem.

A sigh of disgust is let out of the General.

Ryan stops and turns his head.

RYAN

Thanks.

GENERAL SOTO

You can thank me by getting me out of the dance tomorrow.

RYAN

Not my problem.

Another sigh.

END SCENE

INT. RYAN’S HOUSE – MORNING

The room is dark and quite. The alarm clock time changes from seven fifty-nine to eight. A morning radio program comes on, Amy Vega discusses the weather.

AMY VEGA

It’s going to be a beautiful day in CrimsonCity. Temperatures will remain in the mid to late-eighties. Everyone get ready for this year’s Memorial Day Fair, in remembrance of the soldiers who risked their lives for our country.

Ryan gets himself ready to head out to the fair.

INT. KITCHEN

Ryan’s mother is fixing breakfast. She hears him slowly creep down the steps and as soon as his foot reaches the living room floor…

RYAN’S MOTHER

Breakfast is almost ready!

Ryan is surprised.

RYAN

(to himself)

How does she do that?

RYAN’S MOTHER

Because, I hear everything.

Ryan is surprised again.

Chase’s horn sounds outside letting Ryan know it’s time to leave.

RYAN’S MOTHER

I made enough for your friend.

Ryancan’t argue.

RYAN

Oh, Alright.

INT. DINNING ROOM

Chase starts pouring syrup on his pancakes while Ryan watches his friend eat his mother’s food.

RYAN’S MOTHER

Start eating your food Ryan, its getting cold.

CHASE

(stuffing food into his mouth)

I love your food Miss Vaughnier.

Ryan is starting to get impatient.

RYAN

Lucy is waiting for us to help her with the project.

RYAN’S MOTHER

Why isn’t Lucy with you?

CHASE

(mouth full of food)

She is setting up her experiment.

RYAN

Which is why we need to get going!

RYAN’S MOTHER

Not so fast. You know what you have to do to get out of here.

RYAN

(embarrassed)

Oh man.

RYAN’S MOTHER

Say it.

RYAN

(motions to Chase)

But…

Chase has a big smile on his face as the two go back and forth.

RYAN’S MOTHER

Say it!

RYAN

Fine!

Chase waits with anticipation.

RYAN

(quietly)

I love you, mom.

RYAN’S MOTHER

What?

RYAN

I love you mom! Okay?

RYAN’S MOTHER

Okay.

Ryan gets up and gives his mom a kiss on the cheek and a hug. Chase has a smile on his face.

RYAN’S MOTHER

(to Chase)

Will you be taking that to go?

The word yes is about to be released when…

RYAN

No!

Disappointment comes over Chase.

CHASE

(mouth full of food)

Awe! Come on!

END SCENE

EXT. WALLACE HIGHWAY– MORNING

Chase is driving his moms extra hover vehicle to the fair. He is still a little upset.

CHASE

So why are you even showing up to the fair anyway? You’re not even competing in the Platinum Tournament.

RYAN

Because, I go every year. Plus I promised Lucy I would help her with this teleportation experiment.

CHASE

Why didn’t you enter this year?

RYAN

Yeah, well I decided not to enter the tournament this year to give Boomer a chance to take the title.

CHASE

Why? Nobody likes Boomer, he’s always

so smug and with, “my father is the

most important person in the world,”

attitude.

RYAN

Yeah, but he always tried to beat me and he has hungered for victory for a while now. I figure it’s a chance to give him what might make him happy and leave the rest of the other social circles alone for once.

CHASE

Yeah, well I wouldn’t count on it.

RYAN

I feel like things will be different this year. I plan on staying until the end of the dance. Just to see Boomer dance with General Soto.

Chase gets love struck.

CHASE

Oh, and your going to pass up the chance to dance with the cutest General ever. I hope Boomer doesn’t win.

RYAN

We won’t know until we see the tournament.

END SCENE

EXT. TABOR FAIRGROUNDS – MORNING

At the center of the fairgrounds is a tented area for Lucy and her father to construct their scientific presentation.

Lucy’s father is setting up a human-sized chamber using tools to construct its frame. Lucy is using a laptop computer connected to a large hard-drive.

LUCY’S FATHER

I thought your friends were going to help us out.

LUCY

They are. Ryan’s Mom is probably trying to make Ryan eat breakfast and as usual Chase who went to pick him up had no problem helping himself to her cooking.

Wishing he could have some of her famous buttermilk pancakes.

LUCY’S FATHER

She is a good cook.

Lucy sighs.

RYAN

Sorry Lucy.

Lucy looks up and relief comes over her.

LUCY

It’s about time you got here.

Ryan looks over at Chase as to assign blame. Lucy looks over at Chase to lay into him.

CHASE

What?

END SCENE

EXT. THE OUTER COURTYARD WALLS OF VICTORIA CASTLE – MORNING

The morning is peaceful and serene. Morning dew hangs in the horizon covering the city of Tabor in the background. Two guards are posted on the front outer wall ready to end their shift when they hear…

GUARD

Stop the intruder!

Attention heightened when a female whose face was covered with a white hooded cloak slides to the edge of the corner rail. She leaps onto the rail as the two guards try to subdue her.

To her left is a one-hundred and twenty-foot drop into the castles moat. She reaches the tower door and kicks it open.

INT.DRAWBRIDGETOWER

The intruder dashes down the stairs until she reaches more guards rushing up to stop her.

A quick side step is used to avoid the spear attack of one guard and a leap off of the wall, onto the hand rail is used to avoid the sword swipe of the other.

While sliding down the rail she leaps into the air to avoid another sword swipe from lopping off her legs.

EXT. OUTER COURTYARD WALL

The Tower Helmsman shouts out to the Draw Bridge Controller.

TOWER HELMSMAN

Raise the bridge!

The Controller initiates the sequence for raising the bridge.

INT.DRAWBRIDGETOWER

The chains inside the tower begin to pull up the bridge. The intruder takes notice and grabs onto the pulley rope that leads to the bottom of the tower. She jumps off of the rail and drops quickly to the floor.

The ride down comes to a sudden stop for the mystery girl. She looks up to see three guards holding the rope in place while more guards rush down to apprehend her. In panic she loses her grip on the rope and begins to fall, but her boot catches onto the rope. Suspended, upside down the girl watches as the guards rush down the stairs.

INTRUDER

Uh oh.

She ties the other side of the pulley rope to the hand rail as the guards get closer to her. She grabs a dagger tucked away in her boot and cuts the rope as the guards leap to grab her.

Falling at a great speed down the pulley system the tied off rope stops her head from being smashed into the ground. She cuts the rope off her boot dropping her another five feet to the ground.

INTRUDER

Ah!

The drawbridge is up too high for her to jump by foot.

INTRUDER

I’m not going to make it!

A guard on a hover cycle stops her.

GUARD

Halt!

The intruder stops.

GUARD

Get on your knees; place your hands on your head!

He gets off of the hover cycle and readies his handcuffs as she gets to her knees with her hands on her head. The hand rail to the stair case is right next to her and she takes very serious note of this as he grabs her left wrist and begins to cuff her. She grabs the cuffs and locks one onto the rail and the other onto the guard’s wrist.

GUARD

Hey!

He tries to grab onto her but she slips away.

INTRUDER

Sorry.

Hopping onto the hover cycle she rides it away from the bridge to get momentum.

U-turn and gunning the vehicle into overdrive the intruder propels herself forward toward the bridge. All of the guards make it to the bottom of the stairwell in time to see her speed along the bridge and leap to her freedom.

Landing on the ground and spinning one-hundred and eighty degrees to take one last look at the great and mighty Castle Victoria with all of its guards watching her on the other side of the moat.

INTRUDER

So long suckers! Ha, Ha!

She rides off toward Tabor as the guards reverse the bridges momentum to follow her.

END SCENE

EXT. TABOR FAIRGROUNDS – LATE MORNING

Ryan, Lucy, Lucy’s father and Chase are finishing their set up of Lucy’s presentation. While Chase and Lucy’s father work together on the second pod, Ryan is finishing connecting wires from the central mainframe to both pods. Lucy approaches Ryan.

LUCY

Are you finished yet?

RYAN

No. I’m missing a tool to connect the Pod grounds.

LUCY

I’ll help you look for it.

RYAN

No, it’s not here.

LUCY

Then it must be back at the truck. Can you go get it?

RYAN

Yeah.

Ryan gets up from the ground.

LUCY

Now you have to hurry. I want to conduct one more test run before the presentation.

RYAN

The truck is at the front gate right?

LUCY

It’s not there it’s in receiving, the west gate.

RYAN

Got it. Be back.

END SCENE

EXT. WERTERN GATE

Ryan walks out from the receiving area and walks toward the center of the fair grounds with the tool he needed when he sees the crowd at the Platinum Tournament. Four competitors are battling in the skate park for a chance to battle last year’s runner up.

RYAN

(sarcastically)

Good luck Boomer.

Ryan heads back to Lucy and the others. As he passes the wall he is knocked down on his back by the intruder from the castle. She falls to the ground and drops a jeweled pendant.

RYAN

Whoa.

INTRUDER

Ah! Watch where you are going!

Ryan picks himself up and is about to lay into the girl.

RYAN

Well maybe some people…

The intruders cloak falls off to reveal a beautiful teenage girl.

Ryan is awe struck.

The intruder gets a good look at Ryan and is slightly embarrassed.

INTRUDER

Are you going to end that sentence?

RYAN

I, well… you.

Ryan walks to the intruder and helps her up.

RYAN

You did bump into me.

INTRUDER

Yeah, I’m sorry.

Ryan sees the jewel and attempts to grab it. A hardwood staff kicks the jewel up into Boomer’s hand.

BOOMER

How’s it going Ryan?

The intruder gets upset.

INTRUDER

Hey, that’s mine.
