ADSA Bursary Criteria

A: Payment of Funds

  1. The bursary scheme being offered will pay for Registration, Tuition, Accommodation and Books up to a prescribed amount per year. However, funds will only be paid into the University account based on a statement on the student’s name and student number.
  2. It will cover the whole three remaining years of study depending on the institution.
  3. The aim of the bursary is to provide for a disadvantaged individual who may not have an opportunity to study dietetics otherwise.
  4. The decision will be taken by the active ADSA Executive Committee at the time of selection.

B: Who can apply?

  1. Students who are in or have completed first year dietetics (must not be in second year of study yet).
  2. Financial neediness demonstrated by the income of both parents or proof of lack thereof
  3. Passion for food science and health issues shown by a motivation letter written by the student
  4. Leadership skills demonstrated by participation at school
  5. Must be a student ADSA member
  6. Must be a South African Citizen – Will be required to work in SA for at least the same time duration as that covered by the ADSA bursary (excluding community service year), and must be a full member of ADSA at their local branch for the same period.

Applications will be open from 1 September 2013 and the closing date is 04 October 2013
