Concept Design Report
Background
The goal of this was to create a concept design of a unique house to be built for a customer as a weekend retreat/hunting cabin. The necessities are laid out in the components section. To create the design, Trimble SketchUp was used on university computers along with the assistance of some technical support.
Design Concept
The house design is based off of a modern remodeling of a large old barn. This gives it a down to earth, country, and rustic feel. Many of the colors and materials were chosen to enhance this warm rustic feel.
The house is located deep in the mountains to allow for a quite weekend retreat and allow it to be used as a fishing/hunting cabin.
Components of the Project
What was needed was a modern fully furnished house with at least 5 rooms, 6 windows, and 2 exterior doors. There must be a drive way and sidewalk. There should be a lawn with at least three different types of shrubs that surround the house. There should be an exterior attraction, and all components should be styled. There should also be something unique about the design.
Project Description
Exterior View
In view one, the unique barn shaped structure of the house can be view. Along with it, the garage, driveway, sidewalk, and landscaping can also be seen. The house features very large windows on this end as well as 4 dormer windows per side.
Interior View
From view 2 the open concept interior can be seen. In the main room on the first floor the living room, dining room, kitchen, and spiral stair case can be seen. Above sits the loft Master bedroom, bath, and walk in closet. Also can be seen are the large reclaimed beams that help to add structural support to the house.
