1. Requirement Description
Describe the requirement (gap). Include a description of the delivered PeopleSoft functionality.
The ability to award additional time to an employee based upon their attendance history for a specified period of time is not delivered by PeopleSoft. PeopleSoft can award bonus days to all employees in a particular leave plan based upon set dates not upon individual employee attendance history.

In the Protective Services NP-5, contract employees are entitled to a bonus sick day if they do not use any sick time within a six (6) month period. This potentially affects about 2,000 employees scattered through several agencies.

6. Explanation for Recommendation

While this is a bargaining unit requirement, the number of employees within the NP-5 union who will be eligible is small and so the need is infrequent. In addition, employees who stand to benefit from this provision will be tracking their time and can be relied upon to notify their agency should the day not be posted in a timely fashion. Consequently a manual work-around is recommended, assuming that the delivered Leave Accrual Report, BEN007, will be modified. (Requirement TL355).

Agencies with employees in the NP-5 bargaining unit will have to monitor these employees sick time usage.
8. Process Solutions

Option 1. Agencies can use the modified delivered report (modified as part of TL351 & TL355). This report would print out the most recent leave accrual balances as of the last leave accrual process date. This report shows how much leave time has been taken year -to-date for each leave plan for which an employee is eligible. Using this report along with the employee’s Leave Accrual Balance page in PeopleSoft agencies could manually determine and adjust an employee’s leave balance to give them a bonus day.
