Purpose. Understanding your equipment is key to becoming a creative photographer. This workshop not only helps you gain mastery over your camera and lens system, it also introduces you to the accessory equipment that professionals use to achieve their creative results. A practical, hands-on workshop helping you master your DSLR camera's special features, dials, and menus. This workshop is designed especially for beginning photographers.

Content. Equipment overview, including camera body and lenses. How to set-up your camera like the pros do, including color space, image format, menu settings. How to choose a shooting mode, including the two creative modes the pros use the most. How to choose a metering mode depending on different lighting conditions. How to choose an autofocus mode in order to get sharp images. Additional topics include understanding the histogram, white balance, and depth-of-field.

Details. Bring your digital SLR camera and manual. The workshop is illustrated with the Canon Rebel XTi. The instructor is also familiar with the Nikon D3100. It is highly recommended that you read your manual before attending the workshop.
