All lecture/test dates are flexible according to previous lecture scheduling

  • Math, like every other unit, must be passed with a 75% . There will be 6-7 tests and a unit final – Date to be announced
  • Lectures will take place on Mondays and that subject will be tested on Friday
  • Weekly math homework assignments will be due each Wednesday. Homework grades will be averaged and counted as an additional test grade. When homework is turned in late, 10 points will be deducted for every day that it is late.
  • Nursing Math will continue to be reinforced and tested in every unit studied throughout Phases II and III of the LPN program

Lesson 1

  • Develop an understanding of Nursing Math and Dosage Calculations
  • Basic Math Review: Multiplication/Division
  • Conversion among Fractions, Decimals, and percent’s

Lesson 2

  • Identify/Review Roman Numerals
  • Identify Systems of Measurement and Equivalents among them
  • Identify Measurement usage as applied to Intake/Output

Lesson 3

  • Understanding of Measurement Conversions between systems
  • Review ‘word problems’
  • Using Ratio & Proportion to solve Nursing Math Conversions
  • Practice

Lesson 4

  • Understanding Dosage Labels and Solving Dosage Problems
  • Understanding/Interpreting Drug Labels
  • Introduction of R&P between systems of measurement
  • Introduction to Formula/Dimensional Analysis Methods

Ongoing Math Practice

  • Progression towards Math competencies continue throughout PHASE II & III
  • MATH HOMEWORK EXERCISES ARE TO BE COMPLETED IN EACH SUBSEQUENT UNIT THROUGHOUT THE PROGRAM.
  • MATH TESTING IS TO BE COMPLETED IN EACH SUBSEQUENT UNIT,
  • Students to maintain an average of 75 or above in math.
