Running record / Developmental analysis
Curtis sits on a chair at the painting table. Heis leaning back in the chair hanging his headbackwards over the back of the seat. He isdrumming the fingers of both hands on thetable and tapping both feet on the floor, oneafter the other.
He lifts his head, bends his back forward intoan upright position and picks up a paintbrushwith his right hand. He dabs the paintbrushin the red paint using short, stabbingmotions.
He moves the paintbrush over the piece ofpaper on the table in front of him. He makeslarge swipes with the paintbrush across thepaper. He moves his arm to the right anddips his paintbrush into the water. He useshis left hand to move the bristles of thepaintbrush.
He shakes his left hand twice, and thenwipes his left hand on the left leg of histracksuit pants.
He holds still the paint tray with his left hand,using his right hand dips the paintbrush inthe blue paint. He moves his right handslowly over to the paper and makes colouredswirls on the paper with the blue paint.
A caregiver sits next to Curtis and asks himabout his painting. Curtis says ‘This is apicture of a Power Ranger’. / Gross Motor: Can sit and maintainbalance.
Fine Motor: Controls fingers to make asound on table.

Gross Motor: Can control the brushmoving up and down.
