Consequent to the introduction of new Services - Reg.

In continuation to Trade Notice No.1/2004 dt.17.09.2004, the jurisdiction of the four Divisions comprising the Chennai Service Tax Commissionerate, consequent to the introduction of new Services w.e.f. 16.06.2005, is as follows:-

DIVISION-I: This Division shall handle all service tax assessees within the territorial jurisdiction listed against Sl.NO.1 of the Annexure, including Input Service Distributors.

DIVISION-II & III : Divisions II & III will deal with the taxable services mentioned below relating to the assessees falling under the territorial jurisdiction listed against Sl.No.2 of the Anneuxre.

DIVISION-II: Consulting Engineers, Architects, Real Estate Agents, Custom House Agents, Cargo Handling Services, Steamer Agents, Commissioning & Installation, Air Travel Agents, Private Security Agents, Man Power Recruitment Agents, Goods Transport Operators, Franchise Service, General Insurance, Company Secretary, Cost Accountant, Health & Fitness Centre, Maintenance & Repair Services, Courier, Mandap Keepers, Dry Cleaners, Internet Café, Management Consultants, Interior Decorators, Online information Services, Leased Circuits, Authorised Service Station, Business Auxiliary Services, Transport of goods by air, Intellectual property services (other than copyrights), Forward contract services, Pandal or Shamiana Services,Outdoor Catering services, Construction services (Commercial & Industrial buildings or Civil structures) and Travel agents (other than air/rail travel agents) new Services w.e.f. 16.06.05 – Construction of residential complexes having more than twelve residential houses or apartments together with common areas and other appurtenances & Packaging services.

DIVISION-III: Scientific and Technical Consultancy, Insurance Auxiliary, Life Insurance Auxiliary, Pager, Technical Testing and Analysis, Technical Inspection and certification (excluding Health & Diagnostic Testing), Tour operators, Advertising Agency, Rent-A-Cab, Fashion Designer, Commercial Vocational Training Institutes, Coaching Centres and Private Tutorials, Market Research Agency, Banking & Other Financial Services, underwriters, Clearing & Forwarding Agents, Stock Brokers, Storage & Warehousing, Rail Travel Agents, Telex, Credit Rating Agency, Fax, Chartered Accountant, Telegraph, Telephone Service, Port Services, Event Management, Convention Services, Beauty Parlors Photography, Video Tape Production, Broadcasting, Sound Recording, Cable Operators, Business Exhibition services, Airport Services, Survey and Exploration of minerals, Opinion Poll Services and TV and Radio Programme production service, new Services w.e.f.16.06.05 – Cleaning services other than in relation to agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry or dairying, Dredging services backwaters and estuaries, Survey and map making other than by Govt. Departments, Transport of goods through pipeline or other conduit, Mailing list compilation and mailing, Membership of clubs or Associations and Site preparation and clearance, excavation, earth moving and demolition services, other than those provided to agriculture, irrigation and watershed development.

DIVISION-IV: This Division shall handle all service tax assessees within the territorial jurisdiction listed against Sl.No.3 of the Annexure, including Input Service Distributors, falling under the jurisdiction of Divisions II, III & IV.
