A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words Poetry Photo Essay

For this assignment, you are being asked to use current technology and software to put together a collection of images, sounds and effects that best captures your understanding of a poem. We will celebrate the work of all students by viewing them as a class. I can’t wait to see what you come up with for your photo essay.

1.  Choose a poem of importance or special interest to you that you would like to feature in your project. Chose a song that highlights the same theme.

2.  Search for images that you can use to best express your understanding of the poet’s message. (still pictures, video, graphics, art, symbols, etc.)

3.  Put the images together with the words of the poem and song. (written or spoken)

4.  Will you use other effects such as other music, sound, transition, color?

5.  Projects should be created that will run continuously once started, so that you do not have to manually forward the slides.

6.  Keep a log or diary documenting what you did each time you work on the project. Tell me briefly what you did and why you did it that way. I will check your log during class and you will be expected to turn it in with your poetry photo essay.
