DEFINATIONS

This is the main statistics interface for submitting data to QS. Here you can enter information that will appear in your institution’s online profile, or statistics that may be used to feed into QS research reports such as the QS World University Rankings®.

Whilst our demand for data is increasingly extensive, it is not our intention to instigate unnecessary work.

Time Period – Unless otherwise stated the time period which should apply to any statistic is the last annual reporting period (the last complete academic, financial or calendar year, whichever is easier to provide).

Filter by Report – Whilst we would encourage you to fill out as a complete a record as possible, we also recognise that you may want to prioritise the most crucial aspects. Use the bar below to filter for the stats contributing to each specific project.

STUDENT SATISFACTION:

Student satisfaction is an increasingly popular measure in university rankings and evaluations at a domestic level. In principle, it serves as a measure both of teaching quality and related factors contributing to the student experience.

In practice, it is difficult to collect reliably and data is likely to prove challenging to compare internationally.

This category represents our first attempt to assess what information might be available on a global level.

1.Student Satisfaction - Teaching

Percentage of all students expressing satisfaction with the quality of their program

Source? This data can be sourced from an existing survey completed by your students, for example the NSS (UK) or AuSSI (Australia), in which case please specify the source in the accompanying message box. Alternatively, the QS Intelligence Unit can provide a customised survey for you to distribute to students.

2.Student Satisfaction - Overall

Percentage of all students expressing satisfaction with their overall university experience

Source? This data can be sourced from an existing survey completed by your students, for example the NSS (UK) or AuSSI (Australia), in which case please specify the source in the accompanying message box. Alternatively, the QS Intelligence Unit can provide a customised survey for you to distribute to students.

RESEARCH PRODUCTIVITY &QUALITY:

Data submitted in this section are for corroboration only. QSIU gathers these data once annually from Scopus – the largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature.

Drawing the correct data out of the database is more complex than it may seem. The questions in this section represent an opportunity to provide us an indication of the scale of your research operation and enable us to identify any significant discrepancies.

Feel free to use any source to which you have access, but please specify in the accompanying message box what source has been used.

Cultural preservation could be perceived as investment in projects that directly contribute to the preservation of otherwise waning aspects of an institution’s national culture. Universities in Wales, for example, spend a great deal on protecting the Welsh language and extending its use. There may be other aspects of a national culture which a university may explicitly or implicitly take a responsibility to preserve.
