Mindy McLaughlin

Mindy McLaughlin was born in New York, raised in Florida, and educated at the University of Florida where she received both her undergraduate and law degrees. Mrs. McLaughlin graduated with her Bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, and was the Collegiate Champion of the McGraw-Hill Public Speaking Competition. She was also the recipient of the R.J. Donald Memorial Scholarship Award for academic excellence achieved through the College of Business Administration. While at the College of Law where she graduated with honors, Ms. McLaughlin received Book Award Recognition for outstanding scholastic achievement in Trial Practice and Legal Counseling. Mrs. McLaughlin practices in the areas of professional liability and medical malpractice litigation, where she defends physicians, nurse practitioners, hospitals and other health care providers in negligence and wrongful death actions. She also has significant experience in providing risk management, defending Department of Health and other Agency actions and in general civil trial practice. Mrs. McLaughlin is the founding partner of her firm which is recognized as a Metropolitan First Tier Law Firm in the area of Medical Malpractice Defense, Product Liability Defense and Professional Malpractice Defense in U.S. News & World Report and Best Law Firms.

Mrs. McLaughlin received the distinction of being recognized as a Super Lawyer in the specialty of Personal Injury Defense: Medical Malpractice. She has also been recognized in Best Lawyers for the Tampa Bay Area and for the State of Florida in the area of Medical Malpractice Defense. Mrs. McLaughlin has been appointed and serves on the Executive Council of the Trial Lawyers Section of The Florida Bar. In that capacity, she was also selected to serve on the Legislative Committee and as Chair of The Teacher’s Law School to further Justice Sandra Day O’Connor’s commitment to teaching civics education. Mrs. McLaughlin was selected to become a member of The International Women’s Leadership Association in recognition of balance and contribution to family, career and community. She was appointed to and servedas the Vice-Chair of The Florida Bar Grievance Committee for the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit. Mrs. McLaughlin is often recruited to give lectures and presentations on various aspects of civil trial practice, medical malpractice issues and legal ethics and professionalism. She is admitted to The Florida Bar and also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida and the United States Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit. She is a member of the Trial Lawyers Sections of the Hillsborough County Bar Association, The Florida Bar and the American Bar Association. She is a member of the Defense Research Institute and the Florida Defense Lawyers Association.
