Selection Criteria for Youth Internship Project

  1. Willingness to work without a stipend or any remuneration. The interest of the project is getting young men and women to be work ready. Some of the potential internship and or employment companies, organisations and institutions may provide the stipends at their own discretion. Deloitte’s responsibility in this respect is limited to lobbying for a basic allowance in cash or kind in support of the intern;
  2. Applicants should be aged between 20-35 years. Preference will be given to those who have transitioned continuously from higher secondary school into tertiary level education or training. Priority will therefore be given to those in the 20-25 years age group;
  3. Applicants should possess a tertiary level qualification as follows: Degree - Class 2.1 and above; Diploma and Vocational Training Certificate - Distinction Class. In the event that an applicant has several qualifications, the requirement is that at least one of these should meet the stated pass mark stated. It is important that applicant considers critically the qualification that is of greatest importance in their pursuit for the internship and/or employment;
  4. Applicants with an express interest in the fields of ICT, Engineering, Mining, Manufacturing and Medicine will be prioritised. Any other areas are also welcome with the view of placing young women in what have been traditionallyviewed as male occupations;
  5. Young women especially those with qualifications in what are viewed as male dominated occupations are encouraged to apply;
  6. Applicants with physical challenges are encouraged to apply (refer to section # 17 of this form);
  7. Applicants should be innovative andtechno savvy. This shouldbe reflectedin the motivational statement by the applicant and subject to verification; AND
  8. Police clearance report not older than one month from the date that the applicant signed this document (see declaration).

Submission requirements

  1. When completing the CV Template use the following formats: Arial 10 font; line spacing 1.0 with no spaces between paragraphs;
  2. Please number your pages using the format ‘1 of 1; 1 of 2; etc.’ using the extreme right hand corner of each page;
  3. The CV Template has detailed instructions for each section;

Delimiting or disqualification factors

  1. You should not embark on completing the template if you do not meet the selection criteria;
  2. Failure to complete the application procedure as provided;
  3. Failure to meet sectional requirements;
  4. Lack of traceable references;
  5. Lack of commitment from a parent/guardian for both financial and moral support in pursuit of the internship. The parent/guardian is expected to support the applicant by providing resources needed to travel to training events, interviews and or meetings. These events will largely be day events, meaning that participants travel to the venues on a daily basis. Financial resources will also be needed for accessing literature and going through regular web-based exams/tests/assessments.
  6. If an applicant has been formally employed in an area relevant to their qualifications for a period exceeding six (6) months;
