Travis Phifer has 14 years of insurance experience employed with Grange Insurance, Hartford Insurance and State Farm Insurance. In 2006, Travis became a Field Property Claims Specialist for Grange Insurance handling large and complex Personal and Commercial Lines losses. Travis has since moved into the role of Catastrophe Claims Manager, overseeing a group of Field Property Claims Specialists and Catastrophe Claims staff. Travis has handled both large losses and catastrophic events throughout Grange’s Operating states since his employment in October of 2006. Travis also provides training and development for Grange Insurance’s Property Line of Business.
During his time as CAT Manager, Travis has been given the opportunity to present and train at various conference and Product Advisory Meetings, including the 2010 Large Loss Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana, the 2013 NAMIC Claims Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, and the Property Roofing Summit for JMI in Cleveland, OH. Recently, Travis was able to present a course on Arson Claims at the 2013 Large Loss Conference in Jacksonville, FL. Through his 14 years of insurance experience, Travis has been fortunate to hold many training and instructor roles as well as providing specific training on Roof damages, Wind and Hail losses, Estimate Training, Time Management Training, CAT Event Management, and Claims Handling Training.
Prior to joining Grange, Travis held various positions with Hartford Insurance, including Field Property Representative and Inside Property Representative. During his tenure with Hartford, Travis was able to handle multiple large and complex Personal Lines Property Losses as well as catastrophic losses. Travis also handled complex wind and water claims during various hurricane events. Travis also served as Subject Matter Expert and Trainer for new inside and field staff.
Travis has been through IICRC Certification, has gone through numerous training classes including Subrogation Training, Advanced Estimate Training, Coverage and Policy Training, Presentation Training and Managerial and Coaches Training. Travis has his Bachelor’s degree in General Studies from Indiana University, with a concentration in Education, and continues to work on his Master’s Degree in Adult Education. Travis has also earned his AIC Designation, his AINS Designation, and recently became a Black Belt in Six Sigma.In 2013, Travis was recognized by PLRB as the Outstanding Claims Professional recipient.
Prior to getting involved in Insurance, Travis worked as a Manager and Trainer for the United States Postal Service as well as a school teacher for emotionally handicap students at Noblesville Schools. Travis also owned and operated Phifer’s Karate Academy, a commercial karate school. He has been the head trainer and instructor since it opened in March of 1995.
