The gastronomy fair Danubius Gastro in Incheba taking place from 19 to 22 January attracts visitors by its events-packed program and an exclusive menu. People who are professionally dedicated to the fields of gastronomy and hotel industry will find complete equipment for their businesses at the fair as well as awide offer of drink and culinary specialties. Coffee, wine and food accenting the Slovak produces will be strongly present at the fair. Accompanying programmes where bartenders, baristas, cooks, confectioners and bakers show off their excellent skills are an integral part of the fair. General public will be able to taste unique specialities and learn some practical hints from gastronomic professionals. Along this fair take place also the 12th Exhibition of machines and technologies Exposhop, the 11th exhibition of packaging materials and techniques Gastropack and the 16th Exhibition of advertising services Exporeklama.

Quality food is one of the conditions for ahealthy and happy life; what is more, it is an important part of our social being. The Danubius Gastro fair is the top event – ameeting point for people with aprofessional interest in gastronomy, as well as those ethusiasts seeking special ingredients and tips for their usage. What adds on the event's popularity is the possiblity to taste all presented beverages and food. The example of an interesting snack could be abio-chocolate flavoured by Bretton seaweeds or with arose flavour. Adifferent flower that we mainly use in spring bunches – aviolet – in the French town Tolouse is often served as an ingredient of gastronomic specialities. At the Danubius Gastro fair, violets fair can be tasted in sugar, tea, chocolate, marmelade, however their most luxurious version is crystalised flowers of violet in sugar. This excellent product is added to Champagne.

If we want to name some more curiosities, it will definitely be exotic fruits and vegetables.

Jackfruit, pitahaya, kiwano, castel - franco, romanesco, san marzano are only afew of the great number of kinds that are unusual for our kitchens. Excellent cooks will show how to use these specialties in food preparation. On 21 Saturday there will be a fashion show held displaying original clothes sewn from fruit, vegetables, lettucce, edible flowers and herbs.

What gives agastronomic fair the right atmosphere are contests and exhibitions, within which the professionals compare their skills and at the same time they are asource of inspiration to the general public. Over 600 organisers and contestants participate in this year's accompanying programmes. One of the most attractive events will be the National exhibition of cookery and confectionery art named „Poetry in Gastronomy“ which includes competing products of hotels, restaurants, confectioneries, professional and vocational schools from the whole of Slovakia.

The final round of the national competition Gastro Junior Skills Slovakia 2011/2012 is planned for 21 Friday. The winner will represent our country in an international competition EuroSkills, which young talents from the whole Europe will take part in. Contestants are divided into two categories – acook and aconfectioner – in preparation of meals from given ingredients. Performances will be evaluated by the jurry consisting of: Jaroslav Žídek, Pavel Pospíšil, Martin Kovarský, Zlatica Kramárová andĽubo Herko.

Even experienced cooks will compete in Danubius Gastro Cup, Gastro Junior, Callebaut Cup. Coffee lovers will enjoy barista contests Coffee Master Junior andBarista Open, where there will be measured skills and promptness in preparation of espresso, capuccino and coctails.

The bakers´ contest for The Best Bratislava Roll will take place for the sixth time now and will be enriched by Most Beautiful Plaited Product from Leavened Dough and the Most Beautiful Caramel Work of Art competitions. This year's novelty is the baking course for the general public, where they will learn how to make Bratislava rolls. Bartending contests ST. NICOLAUS CUP 2012 and ST. NICOLAUS FREE STYLE are very intriguing and pleasing to both the eye and the palate. Works of art made of fruit and vegetables will be presented in the program of the Small School of Carving.

Fairs are reserved to professionals on Thursday and Friday till 13:00. After that they are also open for the general public during opening hours:
