6. What is a vertex? / 1. A point is an exact location in space. It has no length or width
2. A line is a straight path that is endless in both directions. It is a collection of points. It has no endpoints.
3. A line segment is part of a line. It has two end points and includes all the points in between those end points.
4. A ray is a part of a line. It has one end point and continues on forever in one direction.
5. An angle is two rays that share the same endpoint.
6. The point where two rays come together in an angle is the vertex.

How do we name them?

7. How do you name a point? / Named: Point P / 7. When writing it you must write out the word “point”.
Always has to be a CAPITAL letter!
8. How do you name a line? /
Named: / 8. Name by the points closest to the arrows or by a single lowercase letter. The order does not matter.
9. How do you name a line segment? /
Named: / 9. Name by the two endpoints. The order does not matter.
10. How do you name a ray? /
Named: / 10. Name by the endpoint followed by the point closest to the arrow The order DOES matter!
11. How do you name an angle? /

Named: / 11. To name, use three letters in this order: a point on one ray, the vertex, and a point on the other ray.
OR you can name it by the vertex point. OR you can name it by the number written inside the vertex.
