EXPERIENCE:

Entrepreneur and Consultant (3/2006 – Present) Owner / Financier in a variety of local businesses, including automotive, service sector, and multi-family housing. Strategic consulting engagements to corporate counsels and merchant bankers on business ventures and acquisitions. Directly formed / funded two companies and participated in 7 others.

FAB-X/Metals, Inc. (Based in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, a privately held manufacturing, distribution and engineering services provider.) A $7.5 million 70 employee NSF and UL accredited company building sinks and custom work since 1963.

(7/2004 – 2/2006) PRESIDENT / CEO / CHAIRMAN of the BOARD. Full executive responsibility for the execution of business, reporting to the Board of Directors. First truly external executive leadership in Company history, brought in to revitalize and refocus Fab-X and drive increased profitability and performance. Implemented Sarbanes-Oxley compliant business process and reporting standards. In first six months reversed five year trend of losses and returned company to profitability culminating in asset sale in early 2006.

TRIVIRIX INTERNATIONAL (Based in Durham, North Carolina, a privately-held contract manufacturer and engineering services provider for the medical device and life science industries.)

(8/2003 – 7/2004) MANAGING DIRECTOR / OPERATIONS DIRECTOR – UK. Executive responsibility for the management of TriVirix’ Belfast manufacturing facility including P&L, quality, and regulatory compliance. Managed business through 30+% force reduction and met quarterly manufacturing goals each quarter. Reversed revenue / business erosion trend, and improved balance sheet performance through supplier management, inventory reductions, and improved AR performance. Application of lean manufacturing techniques improved manufacturing flow and reduced work-in-process by 75%. Successfully completed a full FDA audit of the facility within 1 month of taking position, and attained ISO13485:2003 certification.

(5/2003 – 8/2003) DIRECTOR OF STRATEGIC OPERATIONS. Drove implementation of company wide metrics/measurement improvement and initial implementation of Lean, Value Stream Mapping, and 5S.

LIFESCAN, a JOHNSON & JOHNSON COMPANY (Manufactures and markets medical devices. Global manufacturing and distribution division operations grew from $900M to generating over $1.3B sales annually during tenure.)

(6/2002 – 5/2003) DIRECTOR OF LEAN SUPPLY CHAIN WORLDWIDE: As member of operations executive team reported to VP of operations and managed $1.5M budget. Led restructuring of worldwide supply chain to increase effectiveness and efficiency during LifeScan's growth to billion-dollar organization. Drove global strategy of lean manufacturing in worldwide supply chain to save LifeScan $100M over three years, through increased efficiency.

(1999 – 6/2002) DIRECTOR OF PROCESS EXCELLENCE WORLDWIDE: Responsible for overall program deployment and delivery of business benefits Provided leadership at the J&J corporate level as a business examiner and by serving on certification, lean thinking / design excellence global development teams.

1997 – 1999 SONY ELECTRONICS, INC.

MANAGER OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT / MANUFACTURING: $60M division. Doubled division size as capacity / production lines increased. Managed multiple location departments with in excess of $6M budgets and 250 employees.

Identified manufacturing capacity outside of organization and saved $2.5M in first year for division of Sony Electronics. Organization doubled in size. Transferred high-labor components of work activity to low cost labor areas. Evaluated in sourcing vs. outsourcing options and elected to outsource to decrease fixed cost.

1994 – 1997 GENERAL ELECTRIC
MANAGER OF DISCHARGE PRODUCT SERVICE: $4B Lighting Division. Member Global Product Management Team for High Intensity Discharge (HID). Member of acquisition technology and practice integration team for Tungsram business purchase (6 months in Budapest, Hungary). Edison Engineer graduated GE Technical Leadership Program.
