Who we are

We are a Holland-based Foundation composed of different nationalities and expertise working together to assist and encourage the local people in Khong District, Lao PDR

Where we work

Lao Peoples Democratic Republic popularly known as Laos is a small, landlocked country in Southeast Asia. It has 236, 800 sq km land area and is bordered by Chin, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar. Laos has 6.2 million population. Laos is divided into 17 provinces and 142 districts, 72 of which are considered poor.

We work at Khong District, the southern-most district of Champassak province.

It is located at the tip of the Laos’ map in the border of Cambodia. The kilometre-wide

Mekong River covers a big area in the district. Khong District has 72, 013 population.

What are the needs

Families live on subsistence income from a small rice field and some fishery. There are little opportunities to earn extra money. Most earnings are spent on food the is hardly any money left for education, medication, basic needs such as clean water, sanitary fittings or the improvement of the living conditions. This leads to poverty. Children die at an early age and the living expectations are twenty years less than in Holland.
