URGENT!!!
Important Notice from E-Z Data for DST FAN Mail Interface users receiving information from John Hancock Funds
John Hancock Funds notified FAN Mail of some CUSIP mergers. Please review the spreadsheet document that details the changes that are scheduled to occur on June 10, 2002. (The effective date.)
If you have any of the above-mentioned funds in your Security Master (Vendor Securities), you will need to make changes to your database. To see if you have the above John Hancock funds follow these steps:
Go to the CDS Desktop and click on File à Vendor Securities. In the Find Security dialog box select Mutual Funds in the Security Type field and click on the OK button. This will list all of the Mutual Funds in the database (Make sure all Mutual funds are listed; Stop-Go button should be grayed out). Sort the CUSIP column A through Z to list everything in this column alphabetically. Go down the John Hancock Fund CUSIP column and check carefully to see if you have any of the Old mutual funds listed in this spreadsheet document. If you have any of the Old funds that are listed in the spreadsheet document in your database, follow the step below that applies to you.
Tip: Repeat the above process if you placed any Money Market Mutual Funds under the Cash tab within the Security Master (Vendor Securities).
Select the action that applies to you from the list below and then follow the necessary steps.
Merged Funds
Note that the CUSIP number for one of the merged funds is the same for the Old and New Funds.
You need only change the Fund Description for CUSIP 410132203. Upon viewing transactions for positions in this investment you should see a Sell_T and Buy_T for this fund that numerically cancel each other out. You should manually remove these two transactions for all positions where they may have been posted.
Close Funds
You should have already received liquidating transactions for these funds. You should see a Sell_T for these funds due to the merger.
New Funds
Handle addition of these funds as you would the addition of any new Investment/Security. Make the necessary addition of the Symbol/CUSIPs and Fund Description using the supplied spreadsheet.
Run the transaction file for the New Funds from the effective date until the present. If you have already deleted the transaction files contact DST and have them resend transaction files from the effective date until the present. CDS will not create duplicate transactions that have already posted to other securities and will only post the transactions for the New Funds. You should see Buy_T transactions for these New Funds due to the merger.
