*Full-time on campus condensed-format course replaces one month of Chemical Dependency. This experience is made up during the pgy2 or pgy3 quarter of preventive medicine practicum session when they are assigned to the same Addiction Treatment Unit of the VA Hospital.

**Night float: two interns will be assigned concurrently for 2 of the 8 weeks. Each intern will be assigned 6 weeks worth of actual night shifts over 8 calendar weeks to permit time off to complete online class duties. This replaces 2 weeks of FMC outpatient rotation in the original curriculum. Four additional half days of clinic during this time will make up for no clinic during MPH class block. **PM indicates a quarter of Preventive Medicine. Each quarter consists of approximately half-time clinical work and half-time practicum work. The four quarters of PM time encompass four clinical settings that may occur in any sequence:

1) County/State Public Health Clinic

2) VA Hospital (focus on addiction treatment and chronic disease management/risk factor modification)

3) CountyMental Health facility + 2 local HMO organizations (focus on policy-making and practice management)

4) LLU Preventive Medicine Center for Health Promotion (focus on travel clinic, obesity management, lifestyle medicine)

FM residents could still participate in their FMC as usual during PM blocks (44 weeks in FMC/year total.)

***One half day per week assigned to complete online classes. FMC time made up during ICU/EM combined month.
