Fire Protection Station Captain

Unclassified. FT, 24 hrs on/48 hrs off. Benefits. Starting $36,539 annually. Directs crew in firefighting, hazardous response and drill activities; assigns vehicle and station maintenance tasks; and prepares reports.

Requires Five (5) years of firefighting experience, including three (3) in airport fire fighting; DOD, IFSAC or PROBOARD certifications in Fire Fighter II, Airport Firefighter, Driver/Operator Pumper, ARFF, Tender, Fire Instructor I, Fire Inspector I, Fire Officer II, Haz-Mat Operations, Haz-Mat Incident Command, certification as an EMS First Responder (EMT or Paramedic preferred). Successfully complete certification as EMT and Telecommunicator I & II, within 12 months of hire and Kansas Class A or B drivers license within 6 months of hire. Salina, Kansas

Unclassified position, Temporary, State of Kansas $10.00/hr. This position assists in receiving, inspecting, and classifying all tires. Issue and pick up tires from Mechanic Shops. Deliver and pick up rims from allied trades for blasting and painting. Mount, de-mount and balance all tires. Operates gas, diesel and electric powers cranes, forklifts and jacks with capacities of 15,000 pounds. Stacks , loads and transports materials and equipment. Palletizes, crates and boxes material and secures containers for shipping. Unpacks supplies and equipment and prepares for issue or short term storage. Duties require operation of all types of military equipment. Assists with and performs operator maintenance on completer equipment, such as checking fluid levels, changing tires, changing batteries and making minor repairs to insure that 10/10 standards are maintained. Uploads vehicles from railcars or commercial trailers. Loads vehicles on railcars and commercial trailers. Blocks, braces, and ties down equipment to conform with military and civilian regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS: Prefers experience with Forklift, hydraulic crane, pallet jack, battery chargers, and slings. Knowledge of material handling equipment and safety measures preferred. Must have VALID CURRENT Drivers License, Be able to obtain and maintain FBI fingerprint Security Clearance.
