Description: The (PKP) in Cambridge, England offers students an excellent opportunity to study and live in one of the most renowned universities in the world. Students may choose to study from a wide range of academic subjects, including British literature, history, economics, poetry, arts and government, and will examine the background of modern Britain and its rich and diverse cultural heritage. Students live in (PKP) Colleges and have the opportunity to visit some of England's major historic sites. The program is eight weeks in length and will take place from June28– August 22, 2015. The pre-Cambridge trip to Dover, England will take place from June26-8, 2015.

Academics: Students register for three courses in subjects such as literature, drama, poetry, novels, economics, art, or politics. Attendance at all classes is mandatory for credit and students may not elect to audit the courses. Students may earn 4 USC elective credits upon completion of a term paper for each course. Major elective credit may be possible; students must confirm with their major department if courses will articulate in as such. Additional plenary lectures will be held each morning and evening examining an aspect of British history, culture, or civilization.

Accommodations: Students have two housing options: all students are housed in Band 4 or 5 and will all belong either to King’s or Pembroke College. The Colleges are located on the University campus, which is integrated in the city of Cambridge. All Colleges are fully furnished; meal options are included in which breakfast and dinner are included.

Activities: A cultural excursion to Dover, England will be arranged by USC to further enhance awareness and understanding of English history and culture, at no cost to participating students. In addition, students will have the opportunity to participate in The PKP excursion opportunities historically included trips to London, Norwich, Rochester, and numerous historical sites. One to two excursions are included at no extra cost to the student.

Eligibility: Minimum 3.7 GPA. Students should be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in England and British culture.

Financial Aid: Students must apply to receive exceptional funding for summer tuition through the USC Office of Financial Aid. However, students may apply for a Dean Joan Travel Award. Please visit more information.

Application Instructions: Application, statement of purpose, writing sample, one letter of recommendation, a resume and a transcript/STARS report are required. If accepted, students will be expected to attend a mandatory orientation meeting to discuss health and safety, overseas study policies, study at Cambridge, the Cambridge application process (separate from the USC application), and deadlines for necessary overseas information during the Spring 2015 semester.
