JCC Kaleidoscope Creative Arts& Science Camp Job Opportunities

Love kids? Want to work in a creative, supportive environment? JCC Kaleidoscope Camp in Newton is looking for staff for summer 2016. Staff must be available for full camp season including orientation dates unless otherwise agreed upon. Camp dates: June 27-August 19, 8:40-4:10pm, Monday through Friday.Orientation the week before camp opens. Although camp is not easily accessible by public transportation, buses are available from Brookline, Natick, Framingham and Wayland.

Parents on staff full-time send their children to camp for free.

Music Director

Music director needed for production of “Hairspray, Jr.” Position may be full day (8:45am-4pm) including teaching voice, piano, and/or singing classes, or mornings only (8:45-12noon), July 25-August 19. Cast members are entering grades 4-10. Must have experience as a music director and accompanist.

Boating Counselor
Seeking boating specialist or counselor for canoeing program on the Charles River in Newton. Lifeguard certification and experience with children, canoes and kayaks required. Must be 18 years or older, responsible, mature, energetic, and able to organize groups of 10-15 campers on the water. Position may be full-day or afternoons only (Monday through Thursday).

Counselors
Seeking mature, reliable, patient people who understand what it takes to make a camper's day a wonderful experience. JCC Kaleidoscope Creative Arts & Science Camp is a pluralistic camp welcoming the entire community. Bus counselor positions are available from Framingham and Brookline. Counselors must be 18 years of age or older or high school graduates with demonstrated leadership skills and experience working with children. All counselors must be available for the full eight-week season.

  • Lower and Middle Camp Counselorswork in pairs or groups of three and are responsible for a group of 10-15 campers entering grades K-3. They support and nurture campers throughout the day as campers attend activities in the arts, science, sports and swimming. Middle camp counselors may also assist in other areas throughout camp.
  • Upper Camp Counselorswork with campers entering grades 4-8. They teach or assist in classes, activities and productions. Open positions includeguitar teacher, canoeing, sports and games,acrobatics, knitting and crafts. Upper Camp teaching counselors should have completed at least one year of college.
