League Rules

League Rules:

- National High School Rules will be used with the following exceptions:

- No jewelry of any kind (ex. ear rings out, not taped)

- No TRAPS, No PRESS of ANY kind when leading team is up by:

- 16 points - 7th /8th Boys and Girls

- Teams can play man to man (half court only)

- Once 16 point lead is reached for 1st time only, referee calls timeout to inform both teams of the no trap/press rule.

- 1st Violation – warning

- 2nd and on, technical (2 shots, plus possession)

- Running Clock beyond 25 point lead

- Applies to second half only!

- Clock will stop only when trailing team is down by 16 or less.

- No Running Clock Rule in the Playoffs.

- Four (4) timeouts per game.

- Back court and 10 second violations apply

- A closely guarded situation occurs when a player who is in control of the ball in his team's frontcourt, is guarded by an opponent who is in a guarding position within a distance of 6 feet while holding or dribbling the ball. A player shall not, while closely guarded, hold or dribble the ball for more than 4 seconds while in his frontcourt.

- A player can hold the ball for 4 seconds, dribble the ball for 4 seconds, then hold it for 4 seconds more.

Door Charges:

Free to $1.00 - students

Free to $2.00 - adults

Referee Costs:

$40 for two games - Jamboree

$30 per game – League

$110 per school, per season – Referee Coordinator

$ 75 per school, per season – Commissioner

Game time: 8th-3:45

7th 5:00

- Games at HART – 8th Grade Game start at 3:40 with 6 minute quarters. 7th Grade game follows 10 minutes after 8th Grade game is completed. Make sure 7th Grade teams arrive early, since there is no set start time at HART ONLY!

- Games at Harvest Park and PMS start at 3:45 for both 7th and 8th.

***Note – Game times and dates will not to be altered without notice to all involved schools and league commissioner.

Tie Breakers:

1.  Head to Head, 2. Divisional Record, 3. Last Win, 4. Coin Flip 5. Strength of Schedule

Playoff Hosts: Must provide coverage for scoreboard and scorebook for ALL GAMES!! (parent/adult volunteers are preferred)

Players/Students playing/moving up a grade:

1.  School does not have enough players to field a team.

2.  Player is being severely held back (developmentally) by playing at current grade level.

a.  If this situation comes up, school MUST get prior approval of league governors and commissioner before competition begins.

6th Grade Rules

- 5 minute warm up

- 20 minute half/ running time

- 5 minute half-time

- 1 time-out per half/ clock stops

- NO FREE THROWS for fouls, possession only (to maximize playing time)

- NO PRESS

- individual fouls will be kept and players can foul out (Each teams coach is responsible to keep track of individual fouls for their team).
