Salary:£25,769- £37,768 per annum depending on skills and experience(minimum £28,982 with relevant PhD). Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance

Hours of Work:Full-time (36.25 hours per week)

Reporting to:Dr Rong Qu, Professor BobJohn, Dr Jason Atkin
Purpose of the New Role:
To conduct scientific research in order to meet the objectives of therequirements of the European Commission project.
Main Responsibilities / % time per year1. / To initiate, innovate and undertake research within the consortium. This involves knowledge engineering on large amounts of data, and establishingthe case based reasoning system. / 80%
2. / To write research papers in order to disseminate the research findings. To support further dissemination of results through invited presentations at international meetings, conferences and seminars. / 10%
3. / To be involved in research activities and work collaboratively with other researchers within the consortium. To attend and contribute to consortium meetings as required by the academic research team. / 10%
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Essential / DesirableQualifications/ Education /
- PhD (or equivalent)or near completion in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Knowledge Engineering or closely related discipline
Skills/Training /
- Data analysis skills
- Research capabilities including building knowledge bases and developing new research methodologies/ideas
- Good understanding of data mining and knowledge discovery
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Understanding and development of data mining tools and knowledge engineering techniques
- Computer programming skills
Experience /
- Writing reports and research papers
- Oral Presentation of research findings
- Working independently and as part of an international team
Other /
- Willingness to travel in Europe
