Reasonable Service

Romans 12:1-2 (King James Version)
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Introduction:

Ø  the CHILD OF GOD is to present his body to God.

Ø  The importance of the human body cannot be overstated.

Ø  The one thing upon earth that is abused more than anything else is man's body.

Ø  Man abuses, neglects, and ignores his body...

o  by overeating

o  by partaking of harmful substances

o  by becoming inactive

o  by cursing, fighting, and killing

o  AND THE LIST GOES ON…..

Ø  What is reasonable?

Ø  What does it mean?

o  It means that it is achievable.

o  It means that it is expected.

o  It is God’s expectations for our lives.

o  It is what He expects out of His children.

I)  Living Sacrifice

Ø  Romans 12:1 (King James Version)
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

Ø  Philippians 2:14-17 (King James Version)
14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
17 Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all.

V)  Conclusion:

Ø  Is your life acceptable to God.

Ø  How would you rate yourself on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being acceptable according to God’s Standards not man’s.

Ø  REASONABLE SERVICE IS

o  giving when you feel like keeping,

o  praying for others when you need to be prayed for,

o  feeding others when your own soul is hungry,

o  living truth before people even when you can't see results,

o  hurting with other people even when your own hurt can't be spoken,

o  keeping your word even when it is not convenient,

o  it is being faithful when your flesh wants to run away.
