YOUTH ROWING SCHOOL BEGINNER & ADVANCE INSTRUCTORS

Session 1: / July 20th – 31st2015 / Reports To: / Youth Rowing School Head Instructor

Session 2: / August 10th – 28th2015
Status: / Number of seasonal positions are available depending on number of participants / Hours of Work: / Monday to Friday 8:30am – 12:30pm
Extra hours as required
Pay scale: / $11/hour

Employees from summer 2014 must reapply for consideration for 2015

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain a safe environment at all times
  2. Provide basic rowing instruction by following the provided curriculum
  3. Maintain on-water equipment and dock area so as to ensure that boats, blades and banana belts are ready to go before participants arrive
  4. Offer other assistance as required

Qualifications:

  • Active athlete with a St.Catharines Rowing Club Competitive Program
  • NCCP Level 1 Technical coaching certification/RCA weekend #1 or equivalent*
  • Boating Operator’s Card

*Those applying for their second year as YRS instructor should have RCA weekend #1, available March 13th – 15th 2015

Preference will be given to those with:

  • Coaching experience and/or experience working with children/young teens
  • Experience with both sweep and sculling skills
  • Current basic first aid training

Session 2: / August 10th – 28th 2015
Status: / One seasonal position is available / Hours of Work: / Monday to Friday 8:00am – 1:00pm
Extra hours as required for orientation, swim test and curriculum creation
Pay scale: / $13/hour

Employees from 2014 must reapply for consideration for 2015

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain a safe environment at all times
  2. Create a curriculum for both rowing schools, beginner and advanced
  3. Provide basic rowing instruction for youths
  4. Record attendance, payment of participants and all communication with parents
  5. Organize daily lessons and lead the instructors of both schools
  6. Offer other assistance as required

Qualifications:

  • NCCP Level 1 Technical coaching certification/RCA Weekend #1 or equivalent*
  • Boating Operator’s Card
  • Current basic first aid training
