If you are new to Photoshop and Bridge, the lessons below will help you familiarise yourself with this software.

If you have used Photoshop previously it is likely you will still learn new things by going through these introductory exercises.
If you find you have covered a topic already and understand it thoroughly, please move on to the next lesson.

Please complete the following –

Lesson 01 - p8 – 45 (Getting to Know the Work Area)

• Lesson 01A – p8 – p22 (green car and headlight etc)
• Lesson 01B - p23 – p26 (adding text to a postcard etc)
• Lesson 01C - p27 – p35 (tie designs image + menus / panels etc)
• Lesson 01 - p40 – p45 (tools overviews)

Please provide all Classroom in a Book exercises you complete on a disc at assessment time.

Image A – circular marquee, inverse, invert etc
• Reset palette locations
• Pixels (and resolution)
• Application Frame
• Bridge to open (access Bridge from button on the control bar)
• Zoom and File Size (lower left of window)
• Open car image
• Zoom in on headlight
• Elliptical marquee to select headlight (deselect + redo)
• Select > Inverse to reverse the selection
• Curves to brighten and darken
• Navigator
• Save as PSD

Image B - adding text
• Bridge to open image
• Type Tool (horizontal) – set to Garamond 38
• Add ‘Monday is Beach Cleanup Day’
• Set size and font
• Set fg colour in toolbar / colour palette / pipette
• Actions palette

Image C – clipping mask
• Bridge to open image
• Describe Clipping Mask and what it does
• Brushes
• Draw spots inside the clipping mask layer
Show how a clipping mask is created
Show a reveal all mask is created

General stuff
• Undo and History Palette
• Preferences for more history states
• Different workspace arrangements
• RGB / CMYK + bit depths
• View > Pixel Aspect Ratio for different video situations
