INTRODUCTION

The Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF) takes great pleasure in holding the International Seminar of International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) covering the theme ” Textiles and Clothing Trade Potential in Asia”. The seminar coincides with the Taipei Innovative Textile Application Show (TITAS) and Taipei IN Style (TIS), also organized by TTF, to be held from the16 to 18 of October.

Considering that the U.S. economic growth is lower than expected and the proliferation of European sovereign debt crisis drags on euro area’s growth, while the economic performance of emerging markets in Asia is far better than the advanced countries in recent years, Asia is expected to become the biggest global economic growth momentum. With the opening up of Asian markets, it will generate enormous opportunities and a number of new topics related to textiles and clothing industry to be discussed among panel and participants.

The textile industry has endeavored in constantly upgrading its R&D capacities in order to develop textile products and garments with better quality and pricing. What are the changes in the innovation in textile materials? What is the future prospect of different materials? How can the industry maximize productivity of the facilities while developing innovative manufacturing technologies? Representatives from key technology innovators will share their experiences in developing new materials and innovative technologies for manufacturing garments.
