Jubilee Year in Review
Our Jubilee Year celebration of our 50th Anniversary culminates today with a joyful Mass of Thanksgiving at 3:00 PM. Following the Mass there will be a Banquet at the Southampton Room. The celebration of our 50th Anniversary provides us with the opportunity to look over the past year to recall how we have celebrated and given praise and thanks to God.
Bill Fitzgerald served as Chairperson for the Jubilee Year Celebrations. To Bill and to all who served as chairpersons for the various activities, and to every person who served on the various committees, thank you for a wonderful year.
It was on Easter Sunday 2011 (April 24th) that a Jubilee Year Proclamation was made at all of our weekend Masses. For an entire year, we have given praise and thanks to God for the many blessings bestowed upon Saint Anselm Parish.
Our Anniversary Year began May 1, 2011 at all of our weekend Masses. On that day, a complimentary buffet luncheon was enjoyed by 1,200 people. Celebrating with us that day were former parishioners as well as I.H.M. Sisters and Priests who had served here in the past. Loretta Schoen who served as Chairperson for the Homecoming Festivities and her committee did a super job with the Homecoming, Festival in the Schoolyard, and Open House in our School, Church, Spirituality Center and Prayer Garden.
Maria Rybicki served as Publicity Chairperson. She utilized the logo design of Krista Owens on beautiful banners, brochures, and bulletins. John Rybicki and Jack Finnegan photographed events throughout the year, giving us treasured keepsakes.
Pat Nespola served as Chairperson for the Worship and Spiritual Life Committee. This Committee enabled our Jubilee Year spiritual activities to go so well. They included: the Blessing and Dedication of the Prayer Garden; the Anointing of the Sick at our weekend Masses in October with its special outreach to our Homebound parishioners; the uplifting Parish Mission with Sister Louise Alff (Dorothy); the thanksgiving cornucopia and remembrance which we gave to our deceased parishioners honoring them for their legacy to Saint Anselm Parish; the Outdoor Live Nativity (chaired by Daniele McDevitt), the Christmas decorations and dazzling stars; the special 40 Hours; and today’s Anniversary Mass.
The spotlighting of people as Saint Anselm All Stars gave us an opportunity to recognize and applaud people for how they radiate faith and love. This also gave us more reason to praise and thank God for bringing to life in our All Stars what makes them a beacon to others. Kathy Simmons and Pat Erwin worked diligently to process the nominations with personal contact and then publishing in the bulletin an informational sketch on the people spotlighted as All Stars.
A new Parish Photo Directory was published thanks to participation of those who had their picture taken. Kathy Simmons and her committee worked hard behind the scenes to make the Photo Directory a reality.
A Pictorial Booklet of our Church features the beauty of the stained glass windows, altars, statues, pews, baptismal font, doors, etc. Deacon Jerry Whartenby and his committee have given us a cherished keepsake.
Our Anniversary Banquet promises to be a wonderful social. Thanks to Joanne Callahan and Joan Roman who have served as chairpersons for the Banquet and for the committee of people who worked with them.
The History Committee continues to meet. They are writing a History of the Parish which will be published later this year. #1-016
Saint Anselm All Stars
You & The Worshiping Community
As part of our 50th Anniversary Year celebration, for the last 50 weeks, we have been spotlighting people whose faith-filled spirit has made this parish and other places better because of their presence. In recognizing these people, we have been recognizing, praising, and thanking God whose grace and blessing have enabled these people to live life with faith, hope, and love.
For 50 years, God’s grace has been at work in people whose presence and involvement have enabled Saint Anselm Parish to be the wonderful Parish it has been and continues to be.
This week we recognize YOU and the Worshiping Community of Saint Anselm Parish. Your presence at the celebration of the Eucharist on Sunday, your participation in the life and mission of this Parish, the manner in which you continue to practice your faith testifies that you are indeed a star – a beacon of light.
Although we have recognized individuals as Saint Anselm All Stars throughout our Anniversary Year, we were not able to recognize you and many others. However, be assured that you and others who are part of the worshiping community are indeed All Stars. And so,
On the occasion of our 50th Anniversary
Saint Anselm Church recognizes the wonderful,
faith-filled spirit that has been at work in you.
In the history of Saint Anselm Parish,
you are among many people
who have been a beacon to others.

Dear Parishioners,
Mystagogy
The final phase of the R.C.I.A. process is called Mystagogy. All of us are called to use the Easter season which last for 50 days as a period of Mystagogy.
Mystagogy is a word which calls us to reflect on the mystery of how the risen Jesus has been at work in our lives. The questions to ask yourself daily during the Easter Season are, “How has Jesus been at work in my life?” “How did Jesus grace my life during Lent with forgiveness, healing, recovery, Easter, and new life?”
May your mystagogy grace you with a heightened awareness that Jesus is indeed risen, alive and at work in your life. It is no wonder that Christians, aware of the faith, love and goodness that Jesus has brought to life in them, proclaim ALLELUIA over and over again throughout these 50 days.
1st Holy Communion
On Saturday, May 5th, 70 children in our Parish will receive their first Holy Communion. On Sunday, May 6th, two others will receive their First Communion. First Communion is a wonderful time of grace and blessing in the life of the parish. Please remember these children in your prayers. May the love, joy, and faith that are so alive within them at this time remain healthy within them. May they always remain in communion with Jesus who will nourish, strengthen, and energize a spirit of faith, hope, and love in them.
Mother’s Day Mass Intentions
All Masses on Mother’s Day will be offered for our mothers, living and deceased. On the tables with the bulletins, there are cards and envelopes for you to enroll your mother. Please use a large envelope if your mother is living. (This large envelope has a mother’s day card which you can give to your mother.) If your mother is deceased, please use a small envelope.
CCD Program –
Mary Celebration & End of Year Ceremonies
On Tuesday evening (May 1st), our CCD Program will have their final session for this academic year. They will gather in church to honor Mary.
I wish to recognize and thank Mr. Dennis Mueller, our CCD Coordinator, Mrs. Gerry Granroth, our faithful volunteer CCD minister and office assistant, our catechists, and aides for all they have done to foster and nurture faith in our CCD students.
Art Display – Saint Anselm School Students
On Wednesday evening at our Home and School meeting the art work of our school students will be displayed. All are welcome.
Ms. Cotilla, our Art Teacher, enables our students to be so creative and artistic. I am always fascinated with their work.
Race for Education
Our School students’ Race for Education on Friday, April 20th was energetic and spirit-filled. The students “raced” each other as individuals and homerooms to raise the most money and to create the most school spirit. Students and faculty walked and walked as promised to people who sponsored them.
I am most grateful to all the monies that are still being received which will benefit the school. I am most grateful to see the love and concern that people have for our school which produced such an enjoyable and successful fundraiser.
Donations are still being accepted at the school or ParishCenter. A report will be given by the end of May.
Deacon Dan Dwyer to be ordained a Priest
Deacon Dan Dwyer who was assigned to Saint Anselm Parish last year will be ordained a Priest for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia on Saturday, May 19th. Please remember him in your prayers.
God Bless you,
Father Dunleavy

Today we celebrate “Good Shepherd Sunday” where we reflect on Jesus’ care and love of us.
In the month of March, through your gifts, the Society of St. Vincent DePaul brought the love and care of Jesus to the poor by assisting 29 families, providing $1,450 in food subsidies, and $1,098 for utility and rent bills, etc. Thank you for your generosity.
Thank you from the Society of St. Vincent DePaul
