Stalls: What is available and how your stall works
- The stalls we use are professional covered gazebos supplied by Bradford Council’s City Centre Events team. These stalls do have sides and backs that can be used as we choose, in most cases we will just use the backs on these (for security) but if booking a whole gazebo you can request sides panels too.
- The tables are sturdy wooden topped ones, they are free standing, 6 foot wide and 2 foot 6 inches deep – you must bring your own cloth to cover your table(s). If renting a whole gazebo you would normally be allocated two tables, though racks and rails (i.e. for clothing) can be brought instead, though only with prior arrangement.
- If required you should bring you own chair and will need your own float and accessories – we recommend keeping money in a money belt, not a cash tin.
- A-boards cannot be permitted unless they sit wholly within your gazebo and any banners and/or pull-up banner stands must also be firmly secured within your gazebo.
- Stalls must be well presented and table covers must fit well to ensure the market looks its best. You can hang products, banners, frames, lights etc. from the steel framework of the gazebo as long as the structural integrity of the gazebo is not weakened and that nothing would be considered a health and safety risk for fellow traders and the general public.
- There is very limited access to electricity at the market. Silent non-polluting generators can be used, though this must be by prior arrangement and written (e-mail) permission given. If you require electricity this must be arranged and confirmed in writing by ourselves prior to the market.
- Please note you can only sell handcrafted work, no items purchased from a third party can be sold on at our markets, unless they have undergone significant reworking. If you are unsure, please check in advance of the market.
- You must have your insurance details with you when you trade as spot checks are carried out both by ourselves and Council Officials. Many traders use though we strongly recommend you shop around for the insurance that is right for you.
- As the market is held outdoors you will be subject to the elements, so be sure to secure light products and props.
- Made Bradford will not be held responsible for any damage to stock on the day caused by adverse weather or in the event of theft, though we will be having a security officer on duty throughout the day – note this is a busy area of the City Centre.
- If you have any specific stall requirements please discuss them prior to booking. The use of clothes/display rails etc. may be permitted in place of the table, however you must ensure these are suitable and safe for using outdoors and they would need to be effectively anchored in position (note there is a slight incline in the trading area). Any such items must stay within the designated stall area – this must be agreed prior to the market.
- Please call the emergency number (circulated with the stall plan) in the event of absence or lateness on the day.
- You are welcome to arrive to set up your stall from 8.30am (most arrive around 9am)
- Stalls are allocated prior to arrival and no changes to stall allocation can be made on the day.
- Please be set up and ready to trade by 10.30, vehicles must be removed from the site promptly once you have unloaded (not later than 10.00am). You can start trading as soon as you are ready.
- You may not pack up until 5.30pm (4.30pm on a Sunday) when trading ceases you must not bring or have vehicles on the pedestrianised areas between 10.00 and 17.30 (16.30 Sunday).
- Please pack up your stall and clear away any litter you and your stall have generated before bringing vehicles back on site. Be aware that the general public will still be around.
