USG First Year Representative Letter of Intent: Rohan Desai ()

My name is Rohan Desai, and I would like to run for a first year representative position in the Case Western USG. First and foremost, I enjoy identifying and attempting to fix problems, whether it be in sciences or in real life, and I would like to use these skills in order to help others in the Case community. I am sure that after some time at Case Western, I will be able to identify a situation at the university in need of attention, and at that time being a freshman representative would enable me to do everything in my power to solve said problem or problems. In addition, I love interacting with, working with, and helping new people, which as I understand is a vital part of being a USG representative. As for the more personal reasons, I feel that the pressures of leadership or responsibility bring out the best in me and I would like to seize this opportunity to perform under such conditions. In addition, being new at Case Western, like all freshmen, being a USG representative is an amazing way to meet more people, whether they be other freshmen, upperclassmen, or even faculty. It provides opportunities for relationships and interactions I may never receive otherwise. In return for these benefits for myself, I would like to note that I am very approachable, and that in combination with my eagerness to meet new people would make me accessible and easy for those with problems to find and talk to about whatever needs fixing in the Case community.

As for my past leadership experience, I held positions in a couple of organizations in high school. I was an officer for one of the largest sections of my school’s marching band, the drumline, and I was vice president of the board for a music service club that was unaffiliated with any one high school and actually spanned across multiple area high schools. I feel like this gives me experience representing and working with large groups of people that would prove valuable if elected to the position of USG representative.
