WATBike - Guided leisure bike rides for March 2017

NOTE Wednesday rides will now start at 5pm

Sun 5th Mar / Cobalt / 0900 / Riding out west through Ponteland to the lovely café at Capheaton, then returning via Bolam, Whalton and Stannington, around 50 miles out.
Wed 8th Mar / Cobalt / 1700 / Time for some hill training ~ chance to get your legs toughened up for the Spring ~ up and down some local hills, then a well-deserved beer.
Sat 11th Mar / WATBike depot / 9 till 2 / Big bike sale ~ another chance to look at our fully refurbished bikes and accessories at great prices. Free tea and coffee.
Sun 12 Mar / Cobalt / 0900 / Big bus Sunday. Pedalling north via Stannington and Longframlington to end with a cuppa and cake at the Nelsons café in Swarland Village, about 45 miles with bus back around 2pm.
Wed 15th Mar / Blyth / 1700 / Another steady evening ride from Blyth Beach, heading up through Newbiggin and Ashington, and back via the cheeky climb at Bothal and Bedlington. Swift half back at the Commissioners Quay.
Sat 18th Mar / WATBike depot / 9 till 1 / Bike maintenance training. Learn how to look after and maintain your bike, ~ covers punctures, lubrication, brakes and gears. Only £25 including refreshments. Booking essential.
Sun 19th Mar / Blyth / 0900 / Steady Sunday circular taking in Stannington and Morpeth (Morrison’s for a cuppa), Pegswood and Ashington.
25-26th / Northum~ berland / Two day ride, fully booked. First two dayer of 2017, taking us around the Borders and Holy Island. Good luck to all.
Sun 26th Mar / Cobalt / 0900 / Mother’s Day and clocks gone forward! A nice easy ride around the local area taking in the City Centre cemeteries and looking for another café stop. Only 30 miles, good for novice riders.
Wed 29th Mar / Cobalt / 1700 / Another urban Wednesday ride out via Gosforth and Great Park, with a cheeky half at Newcastle Racecourse on the way back.
Sun 2nd April / Cobalt / 0900 / First visit of the year to Raggy Heirlooms. A nice circular out via Ponteland, Black Callerton and Kingston Park, around 40+ miles.

Meeting points:

a.  Blyth will be from the large car park by Coastline Chippy restaurant at South Beach.

b.  North Tyneside, Cobalt, will be Car Park opposite Village Hotel.

2.  No children under the age of 12

3.  Only “standard” bikes, no recumbent bikes, tandems or 3 wheelers on these rides. We may be able to do rides with these types of bike by request, just call us.

4.  Cost is £10 per head when bus is required, and only £5 if a circular ride-includes pick up from the designated point, transport by minibus from there or return, this includes a place on the trailer for your bike. Payment can be made on the day of the ride.

5.  A minimum of 8 riders are required to make each ride viable, if less than 8 we maintain the right to cancel and you will be offered a place on another ride.

6.  If you want any particular type/length of ride, or maybe wish to take in a certain event or location, then let us know and we can design something to suit you.

7.  These are leisure rides to be enjoyed; we want you to be able to appreciate some of the fabulous parts of the North East that you probably wouldn’t see from a car window. Fun, fresh air and gentle exercise! Each ride will have experienced guides to help you along, and in all cases there will be shortcuts should anyone find they are really struggling.

8.  We suggest bringing a water bottle, and some snacks to keep your energy levels up, and we always try and end where we can get drinks/snacks. Wearing of cycle helmets is advisory.

9.  All cyclists ride at their own risk, the Highway Code should be adhered to at all times. You are responsible for your own safety and should be aware at all times of other users of the roads and tracks.
