b. Qualifying to the CCS Meet from League: a student athlete must compete in at least ½ of the regularly-scheduled league meets in order to participate in the CCS playoffs in that sport. The specific qualification standards outlined in the CCS bylaws for each of these sports must be met in addition to this general minimum participation standard.
Exceptions to the rule may be considered by the league ONLY.
if there is a serious medical condition or hardship that is beyond the student’s control and which clearly and solely causes their lack of participation in a minimum of ½ of their regularly-scheduled league contests OR
if the student has corrected a scholastic ineligibility in the most recent grading period which occurs after the first half of the league season is complete and which directly and solely causes their lack of participation in a minimum of ½ of their regularly-scheduled league contests.
If through internal team competition and ladder movements an athlete has not had the opportunity to participate in ½ the regular-scheduled league contests (JV runners)
The WCAL III meet is not a championship meet and therefore is only considered as 1 of 3 meets. Our athletes in the WCAL must participate in 2 of the 3 league meets to be eligible for participation in the CCS finals.
If there is a rain-out: There will be a phone tree from the CCS office to the league reps and then out to the league coaches.
Review of the Crystal Springs Guidelines:
This handbook is posted on the Lynbrook and CCS websites.
Use of the course: If you want to use the course, you must make sure that there are not meets on the course that day. You will not be allowed to be on the course if there is a meet going on.
Reservations: You do not need to reserve the course for the workout.
Trash: For workouts, it is mandatory that you take all of your trash off the facility with you. During practices or meets, please so not leave your trash in the Hallmark Park trash bins. Take it out with you.
Parking: It is necessary that each coach reviews with our parents and bus drivers where they are allowed to park. You may not drop off students by the park. You must go past the last house on the right off Hallmark Drive for drop off. When the students disembark from the bus, please remind them that this is the yard of a family and not to trample their plants or go up their driveway. We need to keep our athletes on the sidewalks.
Buses: Buses can turn around by turning left onto Leigh Way, left at Somerset Dr. and left again at Wakefield Drive. DO NOT TURN AROUND AT THE END OF HALLMARK DRIVE!!!!! DO Not use driveways for the buses and vans to turn around on or block them when parking. Violators could lose their ability to compete in future meets at Crystal Springs.
f. On the day of our meets at Crystal, we must utilize their EMT: Peter Tapia- or 415-722-8876
I will contact Peter for WCAL II.
g. Admission: Please remind our parents and students that there will be a fee charged at the gate for the CCS Championships.
We will be allowed to have 4 coaches per school for free admission
Charges: Adults $8; seniors and students with ASB card $5; students with ASB card $3; children under 12 years= $2
There will be no supervision pass gate list- this is being eliminated
There will be no travel subsidies for teams nor will there be Honor Coach awards, or scholarships. The CCS is running into financial problems and this is part of their solution.
On the day of the CCS Meet:
Warm up and warm down area will only be allowed on the trail paralleling the first 800 meters of the race. No one is allowed on the course once the races have begun. Bob Rush has placed some new signage along the course at the 2 mile mark and every 200 meters forward. On the signs, each band represents 200m. 4 bands = 800 meters left.
i. T-shirts: It is highly recommended that if you are in the later races on the day of CCS Championships, that you pre order the small and medium shirts at least one week in advance so that they can deliver you shirts at the meet. The small shirts sell out quickly.. There will also be participant pins and patches for the competitors.
IV. CIF State Championships: the meet will be held at Woodward Park for the next three years.
qualifying to State from CCS:
Div I Boys 2 Girls 2
Div II Boys 3 Girls 4
Div III Boys 3 Girls 3
Div IV Boys 2 Girls 4
Div V Boys 3 Girls 3
There is a motion being brought to the CIF board this Fall from the San Joaquin section to increase the number of divisions to 6 to include a super Div I above the 26 If this happens, we may loos00 population. The feeling is that they are trying to kick out the Southern Section teams out of Div I so that they SJS can win some championships. If this doe take place, we may lose the max number of teams per other divisions to keep the total numbers of teams competing at the CIF meet the same.
Clarification of the practice rules for the first two weeks of August:
I asked for clarification form Steve Filios:
since cross country is running and no technique or skills involved we are allowed to condition our athletes during this time.
We cannot make this time mandatory for our athletes. We cannot talk about their form or do skill work with them. This is a time for families to get away for the summer and we cannot hint that this is mandatory for them to be here. As for camps, we cannot mandate them to go to camp during this time.
