Travel Planning

Bahamas7-day itineraries depart from downtown Miami at Bayfront Park. We recommend you plan on arriving no later than 1pm on Saturday in order to ensure a smooth boarding and departure. Parking is available in a lot next to the dock for $35 for the week, please let us know if you need parking arrangements. We will arrive back in Miami by early Friday morning and will clear customs at 7am. We recommend planning your departure time for after 10am to allow time for travel to the airport and any delays that might be caused by customs. Please contact our office with any questions or if you need to make other arrangements.

Directions to the boat in Miami

The boat is located at 401 Biscayne Blvd behind the Bayside Market Place. When driving to the boat, turn off of Biscayne Blvd just south of the Bayside Market place and follow the driveway around to the right, keeping the marketplace on your left. When you get to the water, turn to the right and you will see Juliet at the dock.

Arrival Information

When you arrive on board the crew will help you settle into your cabins and show you the layout on the dive deck and help you set up your gear. Once you are squared away you will be “checked in” by your divemaster at which time we will collect your passport, certification card, liability release (attached), port fee ($120 cash per person) and will help you fill out the necessary customs forms (provided on board) for clearance into the Bahamas. The boat will depart at 3pm on Saturday and when you awake on Sunday you will find yourself magically in the Bahamas. Diving will commence Sunday morning!

In Case of Emergency

If you would like to leave contact information with your loved ones should they need to reach you in an emergency they can contact the office at 1-866-558-5438 to get a message to the boat. There is also satellite email on board that can accept text-only messages of 500 characters or less at .

About the Bahamas

From Miami we will be traveling to the Bahamas and while we try our best to accommodate your preferences ultimately the weather will dictate which islands we will dive around. Our most likely destination will be the Bimini chain where you will find beautiful reefs and wrecks, clouds of beautiful tropical fish, many different species of charismatic megafauna (sharks, grouper, turtle, and even dolphins!), and tons of tiny macro life.

When diving in the Bahamas we ask everyone to adhere to the strict no-take on SCUBA laws and regulations. Anything you take from the ocean must be done on breath-hold, including shells. The only exceptions are trash (which there is thankfully very little of) and lionfish while on board Juliet.

If you need assistance with ground transportation we can help you to arrange that.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I charge my phone / camera / etc? Are there power outlets on board?

Yes, there are normal 110V household-like outlets throughout the cabins and in the common areas on board that you can use to charge/power your electronic devices.

Will I get seasick?

Possibly, and if it is going to happen it usually occurs on the first day before you’ve grown your sea legs.If you have any concerns and are thinking of taking a Dramamine type product, it has been recommended that you start taking these products 24hrs prior to departure. Read the product label before use.

How many / what kinds of dives will we do?

On a typical 7 day trip you can expect to do 18-20 dives per trip - 4 dives per day, three day dives and one night dive on every dive day except departure day (typically only three day dives are able to be done on Thursdays due to flying restrictions). Some of our dive sites include the beautiful walls off of Cat Cay where the Gulf Stream runs along the reef. These dives are often done as drift dives so be sure to bring your safety sausage. Don’t worry if you’ve never done a drift dive before, our crew will guide you through it! There are a few wrecks scattered around the area as well, ranging in depths from 100 feet (33m) to 15 feet and sticking out of the water! And the reefs range in depth as well as height – some of the coral heads stand 15’+ (5m+) off the sand and are riddled with swim throughs.

Water temperatures in the Bahamas range quite a bit throughout the year:

Months / Temperature / Recommended Wetsuit
Jan-Mar / 72-76F (22-25C) / 3-5mm depending on your sensitivity
Apr-Jun / 77-80F (24-27C) / 3mm Full suit or shorty
Jul-Sep / 80-86F (27-30C) / Skin or no suit
Sept-Dec / 77-80F (24-27C) / 3mm Full suit or shorty

Should I get Travel Insurance?

We highly recommend the purchase of divingand travel insurance. Some agencies we recommend are:

Dive Assure - 866-898-0921 ext 2

DAN - 800-446-2671

Gratuities

Gratuities are at your discretion and are greatly appreciated. Industry standard recommends 10-15% of the cost of the trip. If you are at all dissatisfied with your experience on board, please do not hesitate to contact us or fill out a Charter Critique form online when you return from your trip.
