Purpose of the Post
Assist the catering department with the effective delivery and service of food and beverages, as per the established standards and procedures.
Key Tasks
Set up any area, dining hall or outlet including areas for special events , conferences and exhibitions that are to be used for providing any catering service as per the standard operating procedures or as directed by the shift supervisor
Provide and serve any catering in any area, dining hall or outlet including special events, weddings, dinners, conferences and exhibitions as per the standard operating procedure or as directed by the shift supervisor.
Assist in the allocation of job tasks during working shifts and assist the shift supervisor with checking of completed tasks
Maintain a safe working environment and comply with all health & safety regulations and safe systems of work taking remedial action as necessary.
Attend all training as required including all mandatory and yearly refreshers, with particular regard to the food hygiene courses
a)Maintain full product knowledge of the items within the catering outlet; can assist customers with knowledge on food allergens and dietary requirements
Report any defects in any equipment or facilities to the shift supervisor
Ensure all stock control and recording systems are maintained as per established operational standards and procedures and assist in monthly stock take
The reading and recording of refrigerator, cold display cabinets and cooked food temperatures as required by the shift supervisor.
Comply with cash control procedures in operating the till and banking the takings at the end of the shift. Ensure adequate change is maintained throughout the day
At the end of every shift ensure that all cleaning and restocking has taken place as required in the allocated work area.
Other Duties
The duties listed are not exhaustive and may be varied from time to time as dictated by the changing needs of the College. The post holder will be expected to undertake other duties as appropriate and as requested by his/her manager.
The post holder may be required to work at any of the locations at which the business of Royal Holloway is conducted.
Internal and external relationships
The post holder will be required to liaise with:
Commercial Services staff, students, conference delegates and other visitors
Working Conditions
The physical environment requires the employee to work inside in hot and humid conditions. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to cuts and burns.
May be requested to work overtime and weekends for special program events.
