Bricklayer

Location: 101 High Street, Fort William

Responsible to: Maintenance Supervisor

Responsible for: Apprentice Bricklayer

Strategic Objectives

To assist in the provision of an effective and first class maintenance service to the Association’s tenants along with private, commercial and domestic customers.

Key Areas

1.  To be responsible for the supervision of the Apprentice Bricklayer.

2.  To adhere to Health and Safety legislation and to ensure other team members comply.

3.  To provide an effective and efficient building service to the Association’s tenants.

Main Duties

1.  To carry out building repairs and replacements within reactive, cyclical and planned maintenance.

2.  Supervising, assisting and appraising the work of any building apprentice employed by the Association.

3.  Assisting where necessary the Association maintenance team members in carrying out their duties.

4.  To communicate effectively and courteously with all tenants and sharing owners with regard to the provision of day to day cyclical and planned maintenance services.

5.  Act in accordance with corporate policies including Health and Safety, Discipline and Grievance, Attendance and Absence management.

6.  To comply with all relevant statutory procedures including the preparation of risk assessments, method statements and construction safety plans.

7.  Participate in an out of hours service where required.

8.  To undertake any training or qualification which the Association considers necessary to allow them to improve their working performance.

9.  To ensure that they are fully conversant and comply with all legal requirements of building work.

10.  To keep all items supplied by the Association in good working order.

11.  To timeously advise the Maintenance Supervisor of any stock requirements.

12.  To record receipt and withdrawal of stores.

13.  Carry out inspections of properties as instructed by the Maintenance Supervisor.

14.  To maintain accurate maintenance records.

15.  To ensure that the repairs service is carried out in line with the Association’s Repairs and Maintenance Policy i.e. within appropriate response times.

16.  Always to deal in a pleasant and courteous manner to tenants and sharing owners along with private, commercial and domestic customers in delivering a first class repairs service.

17.  To adhere to the Association’s policies and practices with regard to confidentiality at all times.

Other Duties

1.  Always to act in the best interests of the Association.

2.  To ensure that any allocated vehicle is at all times used and maintained in a safe, roadworthy and clean condition, and is kept securely when not in use.

3.  To ensure that all premises used by the Association’s maintenance staff are used and maintained in a safe and clean condition and meet the requirements of the Association’s Health & Safety policy.

4.  To undertake any other duties on behalf of the Association as reasonably requested by the Maintenance Supervisor.
