ACCIDENT, ILLNESS & INJURIES

Call 911 if necessary. Notify the office immediately of all injuries. An injured student should be taken to the attendance office so proper first aid measures can be taken. If the injury is so serious that the student should not be moved, the office should be called immediately and proper precautions should be taken pending arrival of personnel. Use the intercom button on the wall or phone the office. Extensions 627 or 616. Call the office 394-4051.

Accident reports, no matter how minor, need to be reported and an accident report always needs to be filled out. They could prove to be of extreme value in case of later insurance claims or lawsuits. Obtain the Accident Report form in the attendance office. It is the teacher’s responsibility to see that these are completed properly and turned in immediately.

If you have a student who becomes ill while in your class, you may dismiss them to go to the attendance office. Notify the attendance office that the student is coming down. If the illness is such that the student shouldn’t be going to the office unaccompanied, please keep the student in the classroom and call the office or security. Do not allow students to call from your room to be excused. Students must be checked out of school through the attendance office. Attendance Office extensions 600 & 601.

ACTIVITIES

1.  A regular time and place is to be set up with the activities office for all meetings and practices. Special meetings may be called, but if these conflict with scheduled meetings or practices of other organizations, the student’s obligation is to be at the scheduled meeting. A faculty member is to be present at all meetings and practices. All regular and special meetings and practices are to be held in the school building unless specific permission is granted by the activities director.

2.  All events, which require the use of special rooms or the use of the building at any time during the evening or weekend, must be approved before they can be scheduled. Permission to use the room is granted through the activities office.

3.  All activity transportation arrangements are made through the activities office.

4.  All arrangements for ticket sales will be made through the activities office.

5.  The school encourages our groups to perform for community activities. Teachers should encourage several students to have the opportunity to perform rather than limiting the performances to small select groups.

6.  All performances during the school day must be cleared through the office.

7.  Activity excuses: Students are not to be taken from regular classroom work for an activity unless the absence has been cleared through the principal's office. When students are to leave for an activity, they are not to be excused until it is absolutely necessary for them to leave.

8.  It is the sponsoring teacher's responsibility to see that students taken out of school to participate in an activity are excused for the correct periods with the attendance office. All students must be excused BEFORE the event.
