Job Purpose:
Support the implementation and delivery of sustainable travel choices to businesses and employers, development agencies, people in pre and post 16 education and communities across the Sheffield City Region in order to raise awareness, interest and uptake of the various schemes available and to promote modal shift in-line with STAF and South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executiveobjectives.

Dimensions:
Promote all schemes by identifying leads using phone, face-to-face and digital channels. Engaging with leads identified to develop relationships in order to obtain successful participation of one or more of the schemes within the activity plan in order to achieve the stated targets.
Deliver travel training to commuters, students and job seekers in order to promote public transport in line with the scheme targets.
Part of the Sustainable Travel Marketing & Business Engagement team based at SYPTE currently consisting of 9FTEs.
Whilst the postholder will be based at SYPTE, they will be expected to spend a large amount of their time out within the Sheffield City Region meeting the customers and working with the other various partner organisations.

Responsibilities/Key Accountabilities:
  1. Support the delivery of the Sustainable Travel Fund activity plan by contact and promotions with organisations, education providers, agencies, and individuals within selected areas across South Yorkshire by addressing sustainable travel options on both an organisational and individual level.
  1. Promote sustainable travel options within organisations and provide them with appropriate ticketing offers and packages tailored to individual and organisational needs including measures of effectiveness.
  1. Introduce the organisations products and services to both cold and warm prospective customers through various channels including telephone and site visits and report on a weekly basis the progress and outcome of all activity to the Senior Travel Advisor.
  1. Liaise closely with other departments, varied groups and partners to develop and successfully deliver the activities in the STAF plan.
  1. Ensure that all equipment, customer data, and stock is secured in accordance with established procedures, audit recommendations and accounting directives in order to minimise the risk to assets.
  1. Gather and document information about the customer, using the CRM system, enabling marketing to support the execution of the various STAF initiative and ensure that the various partners can maximise leads and interest cultivated.
  1. Maintain monitoring systems, evaluate progress and prepare regular reports in order that the effectiveness of the individual initiatives are measured and the information requirements of funding agencies are complied with.
  1. Advise the Senior Travel Advisor on the development of new offers and measures required for effective delivery of appropriate public travel and information schemes to support accessing opportunities for employment and further education.
  1. Develop and maintain links with individuals, communities and organisations, particularly those in STAF targeted areas.
  1. Work as part of the Promotions team and liaise with others to continuously improve cross-functional efficiency.
  1. Provide cover for colleagues within the team as directed by the Marketing Manager and as business demands, during holiday or sickness leave periods in order to aid the efficient functioning of the Team.
  1. Undertake any other duties commensurate with the post as directed by the Senior Travel Advisor.

Planning and Organisation:
  • Assist in the delivery of a sustainable travel promotion for SYPTE in line with the activities outlined in the STAF activity plan.
  • Produce and maintain reports to inform internal and external customers of the Travel Advice Team and STAF Team, on both a routine and ad hoc basis.
  • Provide regular progress updates for the Senior Travel Advisor.
  • Arrange, organise and attend meetings, seminars and road-shows at various locations throughout the Sheffield City Region. This may include working in the evenings and at weekends.
  • Advise and assist in the design of new sustainable travel promotional offers.
  • Contribute to team working within the Marketing Team and liaise with others to continually improve cross-functional efficiency.
  • Undertake tasks, assignments and projects outside of core activity to ensure that SYPTE maintains its operational flexibility in a changing business environment.
  • Monitor and manage own performance in order to ensure the effectively delivery of all targets and objectives set.

  • Analyse organisation, community and individual requirements. Advise them on available sustainable travel products on behalf of Travel South Yorkshire.
  • Make day-to-day decisions on operational matters within parameters agreed with the Senior Travel Advisor.
  • Participate in organisational decision making through membership of formal groups and committees.
  • Arrange, organise and attend internal and external meetings as necessary. This may necessitate out of hours working.
  • Advise and assist in the design of new sustainable travel promotional offers and marketing activities.
  • Actively promote awareness of sustainable travel across the community.
