SECTION REPORTS

CAPTAIN

CAPTAIN’S AWAY DAY

This went off very well and we all seem to like the new course at Horsham. Again Joy would like to thank everyone for the kind words in her card and the lovely presents. She will be spending the voucher on a new lob wedge when she gets some guidance from Paul.

WINTER RULES

Winter Rules are now in place. This will probably mean no buggies soon and we will probably have to have hedgehogs on our trollies. Hedgehogs didn’t come in until December last year though. Bill Betts, the new Competition Secretary, will be producing hard and fast rules regarding the club’s local rules, eg embedded ball in the rough, bunkers that are full of water etc.

DIARY FOR 2017

Joy has done the 2017 diary dates for the Ladies’ competitions and some of the matches and has emailed then to Gavin Lloyd who has agreed to do this again this year in conjunction with Bill Betts. Bill says he might make it a proper diary this year.

DAILY MAIL

Joy has received the info on this now which she has given to the Competition Committee.

CONSTITUTION

The revised Constitution was approved by the members at the Main AGM. A copy is in the blue folder by the computer and she will also put a copy on the ladies’ noticeboard.

VICE CAPTAIN

Tricia is sorry she didn’t come with the receipts for the raffle to the meeting but has added them up. The total she spent on the raffle is £59.43 for 6 prizes & this is the amount that will need to come out of the ladies funds. She asked for this information to be added to the Minutes.

TREASURER

Kerry had nothing to report

COMPETITION SECRETARY

Winter Singles and Doubles Knockouts

The draw was made in early November and hopefully is under way. Pray the weather won’t be as bad as last year.

Winter Eclectics

This has begun and the first cards have been entered. There has been a debate about how the 10 cards should be administered.

In order to avoid wasting cards, an eclectic done on Thursday and Saturday does not need to be signed as there is usually a competition/committee member running the session.

It has been suggested that we sign up to 3 cards. These will be left in the Ladies cloakroom?

Any other time either signed by a committee member or someone in the Pro-shop. An eclectic card needs to be played with another lady member.

Up to 10 cards can be submitted - please leave in the Black Box in the Pro shop or there is a box on the shelves in the ladies cloakroom.

9 or 18 holes can be submitted but a 9 hole counts as ONE card

Also a query about starting at 10 am on a Saturday. Tricia stated last time that she would raise the question when she is captain.

*Everyone to get up to 10 cards and get them signed by a committee member. Anne to email those on list. Number of cards done will be added to the report.

Daily Mail

The club has been registered and the next round has to be played before 19th March 2017.

The draw takes place in February.

There has been a query about a disqualified card but the R& A have come back with this answer. Thank you to Rosie for sorting it out amicably.

“I spoke to very helpful guy, Chris Wallis, who himself had to get it checked, but it seems that the disqualification under Rule 29-3 does apply to foursomes stroke play HOWEVER if it is stableford stroke play, a'modification of penalties' rule 32 is applied, and as long as they signed the card correctly (i.e. not claiming points on hole 17, which they did), they would not be disqualified. He is going to send me an email so that I have a written copy which I will forward.”

Therefore the couple we will put forward is Tricia Hughes and Di Hunter. A card has been re-written. The players will be told which club they will have to contact after Feb 1st 2017.

Birdie Tree

The birdies have been cleared from the summer months.

They will be cleared after every committee meeting with a mention of the birdies at the meeting.

This time:-

Rosemary Golby 5 Anne Dupres 2

Sue Hunt 1 Sue Bunn 1

Sue Calvert 1 Louise Vincent 1

Joy Tilley 1

Well done to you all!

HANDICAP SECRETARY

Shirley had nothing to report.

MATCH SECRETARY

Rosemary did not have much to report..

Since last committee meeting Foxbridge have replied with a date for next year so 10 matches have been arranged. We only have 3 club matches left to sort plus the Probus, which usually takes a long time, and Horne men.

We briefly discussed new clubs last time but never came to a decision so perhaps we can do that today. At the moment we should have 15 matches next year if nobody cancels. Is that enough or do we want more?

It was agreed not to look for any more matches.

SOCIAL SECRETARY

Lesley had nothing to report.

The incoming Social Secretary, Jo Stone, had already researched venues for next year’s ladies’ holiday and reported that after looking at various options she has narrowed it down to 2 possible venues.

1. Tracy Park Golf club, which has 2 x 18 hole courses but no other facilities like swimming pool or gym. Location is Bath so approximately2.5hrs journey time.

2. Dale Hill Golf club, again 2 x 18 hole courses with swimming and gym facilities. This is in Ticehurst, approximately 1hr journey time.

Both clubs are in line with pricing which is around £350 twin occupancy and £450 single occupancy.

The committee could not come up with a majority vote as to which one to go with so she will make the decision and notify all members accordingly.

PAST CAPTAIN

Mary had nothing to report.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS

XMAS DINNER

The committee agreed to use club funds for the raffle prizes.

DATE OF THE NEXT MEETING
