HOWARD TEPER

Howard Tepper has over 25 years experience in the management of physician practices and healthcare organizations.He has unique physician enterprise management experience from his executive leadership positions on the academic, hospital and independent group segments.

Howard Tepper is currently the Executive Director for Barnabas Health Medical Group. The group has over 400 salaried providers and provides MSO service to more than 900 providers in 10 counties throughout New Jersey.Prior to that he was the Vice President for Physician Practices and Ambulatory Services at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center.He is responsiblefortheemployedphysicianenterprise as well as joint ventures with themedical staff. These joint ventures include primary care recruitment, radiology joint ventures, hospital campus ambulatory surgery center, and cath lab management. He also has responsibility for theChildren's Hospital,clinical service lines and clinical departments.

Prior to joining St Joe’s, he was the Chief Executive Officer for Manhattan’s Physician Group (MPG). MPG is a multispecialty group consisting of 80 physicians with seven sites in Manhattan. At MPG he implemented a compensation plan based on clinical outcomes, patient satisfactionand provider productivity.In addition to preferred provider agreements the group had a number of risk based contracts. Under his leadership,MPG had its first profitable year. He developedrelationships with major hospital systems includingsecuring an active role for the group in major IPAs.

Howard was previously the Executive Director for NJPC and Administrator for Physician Services at Hackensack University Medical Center and the Associate Dean for Finance and Administration at Touro University College of Medicine. At Hackensack, he developed and implemented a strategy for the purchase and leasing of primary care and specialty practices. He served in senior positionsin academic medicine and physician practices including as the Vice Chair and Chief Financial Officer for the Department of Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical School.

He holds fellowships in the American College of Medical Practice Executives, the

Healthcare Financial Management Association, and the American College of Healthcare Executives. He has lectured to physician practices across the country on coding and compliance issues. Most recently he was invited to lecture at Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvaniaon physician enterprise. He also presented programs at the national annual conference of the American Healthcare Informatics Association and the Medical Group Management Association. Howard has authored two chapters in books on medical practice information systems and is a member of the Editorial Review Board of the Healthcare Financial Management publication. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Accounting and Information Systems from Queens College and a Masters Degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Healthcare Administration, from Mount Sinai/Baruch College.
