7.25.2014 Jackson County Land Conservation and Agriculture Committee Meeting Minutes
LCAC Members present: Karen Thayer, Jerrold Schmidt, Hoyt Strandberg, Rick Olson, Larry Blaken, Ron Carney
Others present: Ryan Swatek, DeWayne Snobl, Gaylord Olson II
LCAC Chair Ron Carney called the meeting to order at 8:30 am.
Olson, Strandberg motion to approve the June 27, 2014 LCAC meeting minutes. Motion carried.
The next LCAC meeting will be held on Friday, August 22, 2014 at 8:30 am.
Wildlife Damage Claims and Abatement – DeWayne Snobl
The 2013 Annual Report for Wildlife Damage Services was presented by DeWayne and reviewed with the LCAC.

Natural Resources Conservation Service – Ryan Swatek
The cover crop program application deadline has ended with the applications being reviewed. The seeding deadline for our county is October 15. Construction of best management practices has been slow. The initial Conservation Stewardship Program contracts are expiring; those landowners can now re-apply for a renewal. There are 20 contracts expiring. The new Local Work Group meeting with Buffalo, Trempealeau and Jackson Counties will hold its first meeting on July 31st in Mondovi.
Land Conservation Department – Gaylord Olson II
Thayer, Blaken motion to approve the County Conservation Cost-Share Program payment for Johnson. Motion carried.
Blaken, Olson motion to approve the Notice of Discharge cost-share agreement for Bush. Motion carried.
Blaken, Strandberg motion to approve moving forward with discussing repairs and possible agreement with Kostohyrz and Bowden for stream bank rip rap repairs on Roaring Creek as presented by the Land Conservation Department staff. Motion carried.
Thayer, Blaken motion to sign a mapping agreement with Al Hoff for the Farmland Preservation Program Plan revision requirements. Motion carried.
Olson, Thayer motion to approve the 2015 Jackson County Land Conservation Department budget as presented. Motion carried.
Thayer, Strandberg motion to approve the bills. Motion carried.
Blaken, Olson motion to adjourn. Motion carried.
