The Virginia Economic Development Partnershipis seeking an experienced economic developmentprofessional to provide leadership, project management, and the development and implementation of a comprehensive lead generation strategy that successfully generates results achieving VEDP’s performance metrics.

As part of VEDP’s Business Investment division, the sector-based team works with prospective corporate executives, and local and regional economic developers to successfully locate new business operations to Virginia. The team supports VEDP’s lead generation strategies by conducting marketing outreach to targeted companies, site selection consultants and commercial real estate brokers.The Managing Director will oversee the day-to-day operations of the sector basedteam and provide vision to enhance strategies and initiatives thatachieve the Business Investment division’s results for leads generated, leads converted, jobs created and new capital investment.

Candidates must possess 10+ years ofeconomic development experience including executive-level lead generation to a corporate audience. The Manager Director must have demonstrated leadership and project management experience, as well as a proven background in developing and implementing targeted industry lead generation plans to effectively identify economic development opportunities and close deals. The Managing Director is expected to demonstrate the ability to manage in a team environment and leverage partners in the public and private sectors, including higher education partners, and local and regional economic development partners. The Managing Director must have excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Applicants must also have strong organizational skills and be able to plan and successfully manage multiple marketing projects. Proficiency in using multiple PC software packages is required. Experience with Salesforce is a plus. Frequent travel is required. A valid Virginia driver’s license is required and the candidate must be able to obtain a passport. Undergraduate degree in marketing, business administration or economics or equivalent work experience is required. Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) designation or other industry certification is a plus.
