III.  Approval of Agenda Information/Action

A.  July 22, 2005 SGA Agenda

Treasurer Nachiondo moved to approve the July 22, 2005 agenda. Secretary Martin seconded. Motion passed unanimously.

IV.  Approval of Minutes Information/Action

A.  June 10, 2005 SGA Minutes

Senator Mollart moved to approve the June 10th 2005 SGA minutes. Senator Trott seconded. Motion passed unanimously.

V.  President’s Report Information/ Action

A. 2005-2006 Budget Report

President Phillips explained that the 2005-2006 budget was a little larger due to rollovers. Also she went over some off the items on the budget. See full budget report attached.

Senator Trott moved to approve the 2005-2006 budget report. Treasurer Nachiondo seconded.

Motion passed unanimously.

B. Retreat Dates

President Phillips mentioned that the days for the SGA retreat would be August 18th and 19th.

C. Meeting times for 2005-2006

President Phillips set the meeting times for the SGA meeting during fall semester for 3:30pm every Friday.

D. Resignation of Senator O’Neal

President Phillips read Senator O’Neal’s letter of resignation :

Robbi and all of SGA
I regretfully inform you that I am resigning from my position as a SGA Elko
senator as of July 19, 2005. I want you all to know that I have learned so
much from being a part of SGA. It has been fun and an awesome learning
experience. I wish you all lots of luck and a wonderful journey ahead.

VI.  Secretary’s Report Information

Secretary Martin reported on new amendments to Nevada Open Meeting Law. These changes include having to record open meetings and giving notice to any persons being discussed in a closed meeting.

VII.  Treasurer’s Report Information/Action

A.  June 2005 Treasurers Report

Treasurer Nachiondo reported balances for each campus. See full Treasury’s report attached. Senator Trott moved to approve the June 2005 Treasurers report. Senator Mollart seconded. Motion passed unanimously.

VIII.  Committee Reports Information/Action

A.  Ely Report- Senator Trott

Senator Trott explained that things have been pretty mellow. He also mentioned that he is currently looking for businesses in Ely that will honor a discount for all GBC students with a current student ID

B.  Battle Mountain Report- Secretary Martin

X.  New Business

A. Ambassadors Program Information/Action

Tammy Staley requests a cap of $1500 per semester for the ambassador program.

Treasurer Nachiondo Moved to approve a cap of $1500 per semester for the ambassador program. Senator Mollart seconded.

Discussion: President Phillips explained that the money would support the ambassadors program as a sanctioned organization under SGA. It would help provide for things such as shirts, nametags, and other supplies as needed.

Motion passed unanimously.

B. Administrative Aid Appreciation Information/Action

Secretary Martin requests a cap of $130 for administrative aid appreciation

Secretary Martin moved to approve a cap of $130 for administrative aid appreciation. Senator Trott seconded.

Discussion: Secretary Martin explained that she wanted to do something to thank the staff of the Battle Mountain campus for their support of SGA. Motion passed unanimously.

C. Day One: Welcome Back Taco Feed Information/Action

President Phillips requests $500 for a welcome back taco feed.

Senator Mollart moved to approve a cap of $500 for a welcome back taco feed. Treasurer Nachiondo seconded.

Discussion: President Phillips explained that items C-K on the agenda are pertaining to the Elko campus only, but suggested that all campuses try to coordinate and do similar activities.

Motion passed unanimously.

D. Day Two Activity Information/Action

President Phillips requests $200 for an event for the second day of school to be determined.

Treasurer Nachiondo moved to approve a cap of $200 for an event for the second day of school to be determined. Senator Trott seconded.

Motion passed unanimously.

E. Day Three: Ice Cream Social Information/Action

President Phillips requests a cap of $200 for an ice cream social the first week of school.

Senator Mollart moved to approve a cap of $200 for an ice cream social the first week of school. Secretary Martin seconded.

Discussion: President Phillips explained that most of the ice cream would be donated by Schwans. She also mentioned that she was in the process of finding more businesses to donate for this event.

Motion passed unanimously.

F.  Day Four: Student Welcome Back Event. Information/Action

President Phillips requests a cap of $1500 for a welcome back event on the fourth day of the first week of school.

Senator Trott moved to approve a cap of $1500 for a welcome back event on the fourth day of the first week of school. Treasurer Nachiondo seconded.

Discussion: Secretary Martin asked where these events on the first week would take place. President Phillips explained most of them would be outside of the amphitheater. She also mentioned that for the week we are selling rubber ducks and on the last day we will have a duck race in the stream on campuses.

Motion passed unanimously.

G. Bowling Night Information/Action

President Phillips requests a cap of $350 for a bowling night.

Senator Mollart moved to approve cap of $350 for a bowling night.

Secretary Martin seconded. Motion passed unanimously.

H.  Hypnotist Information/Action

Senator Mollart requests a cap of $700 to bring Transer back.

Treasurer Nachiondo moved to approve a cap of $700 to bring Transer back. Secretary Martin seconded.

Discussion: Senator Mollart explained that this is more expensive than last year because he has no other shows booked in this area. She went on to say that he is looking for other shows in our area around the same time so that he can lower our price

Motion passed unanimously.

I.  Impersonator Information/Action

President Phillips requests a cap of $2500 for impersonator.

Treasurer Nachiondo moved to approve a cap of $2500 for impersonator.

Senator Mollart seconded.

Discussion: Senator Mollart and Advocate Smith both agreed that the impersonator is well worth the money and that she is very funny.

Motion passed unanimously.

J.  The MVP’s Information/Action

President Phillips requests a cap of $2000 for the band The MVP’s.

Senator Trott moved to approve cap of $2000 for the band The MVP’s.

Treasurer Nachiondo seconded.

Discussion: President Phillips explained that the band is a cover band and does a wide variety of music. She also said that the price is really around 8000 dollars but that she is looking for businesses to sponsor this event.

Motion passed unanimously.

K. Paradigm Information/Action

President Phillips requests a cap of $600 for the band Paradigm.

Senator Mollart moved to approve a cap of $600 for the band Paradigm.

Senator Trott seconded. Motion passed unanimously.

XII.  Issues and Concern/Public Comment

Advocate Smith wanted to let all the members of SGA know that she was truly honored to watch us work and that she thinks the group is super this year.

President Phillips also explained that there were a lot of events on the agenda because it was a whole semesters worth. She also explained that most of these events would be held on the third Thursday of every month so that the students would know that every third Thursday there is an event on campus and eventually they will be expecting it.

Senator Mollart moved to adjourn the meeting at 12:21. Treasurer Nachiondo seconded.

Motion passed unanimously.
