Organized by Soil Remediation Committee of Chinese Soil Society, the Nanjing Soil Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Geosyntec Consultants of USA, and Hunan Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, this three-day symposium will provide attendees with a detailed insight into current topics in the investigation, risk assessment, management and remediation of contaminated soil and groundwater. It includes specialized training on the utility of a highly promising and potentially disruptive technology: nanoscale zero-valent iron (nZVI), in contaminated groundwater remediation. Delivered by an international group of leading research scientists, engineers, and remediation practitioners from China and the rest of the world, this symposium and training course is timely in light of the fast-evolving environmental regulatory and remediation market in China. With a format featuring a combination of lectures and panel discussions, conference participants will be assured an opportunity to engage and interact with the speakers.
Our experts will lead discussions on remedial methods for petroleum-derived hydrocarbons as well as more recalcitrant contaminants (e.g. chlorinated solvents, pesticides, etc.) and will involve both conventional and innovative treatment technologies and technology combinations. Presentations will also highlight the current status of contaminated site remediation in China, sustainable remediation worldwide, and the critical importance of conceptual site models in risk based remediation design.
The special training session on remediation with nZVI will cover the track record of this promising yet controversial technology, describe recent nZVI manufacturing and deployment innovations and lessons learned in the United States and Europe, highlight important scientific breakthroughs regarding the development and applications of the nZVI technology, and present illustrative case studies.
