Ohio Valley Invitation
The University of Kentucky Intercollegiate Debate Program cordially invites you to the Ohio Valley Invitational to be held on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, December 3-5, 2016. The tournament is open to any high school in the country.
The tournament offers high quality competition as a Tournament of Champions Qualifier in Policy at the Quarter-final level.
Debate Divisions: We will offer Varsity and Novice Policy. Varsity Policy will have 6 preliminary debates and likely clear to doubles if we have numbers similar to last year. Novice Policy will also have 6 prelims and will clear to the appropriate level based on numbers.
Judges: one judge can cover two teams in policy. A very limited number of judges are available for hire. Please make these requests as far in advance as possible, or we may not be able to accommodate your request.
Entries must be made through the Tabroom.com website. We will no longer accept entries by mail or phone. We will accept entries until Monday,November14th at 5pm EST. Any entry dropped after that date will be assessed the full entry fee.
The exact schedule will be available on the Tabroom website as soon as it is ready. Policy Debates will begin between 9:30am and 10am on Saturday morning. Both divisions of Policy will conclude with late elims on Monday.

General Information
In previous years, we have had an extremely long wait list, so please register soon to ensure that you have a spot in the tournament. We do promise to continue providing you a high quality tournament experience, including improved hospitality for both judges and students.
Entries must be made through the Tabroom.com website. We will no longer accept entries by mail or phone. We will accept entries until Monday, November 14thth at 5pm EST.
Registration will not take place in person. Please confirm that all your competitors and judges will be present and that the contact information for judges in tabroom is accurate Friday night by emailing Lincoln Garrett at . If you run into any issues his number is 719-565-9528.
Fees and Hired Judging
Entry fees are:
Varsity Policy: $100 per team
Novice Policy: $80 per team
School Fee: $50 per school
Urban Debate League Fee Waivers. Entry fees will be waived for all urban debate league participants. Limited assistance for judging and housing may be available. Please contact Lincoln Garrett for assistance at .
Credit card payments can be made here Checks can be made payable to “UK Debate Tournaments”. Unfortunately we cannot accept cash payments. All fees must be paid by registration. If your school needs to mail a check, please make arrangements with Linda Barker to have the check mailed ahead of time (, 859-257-6523).

Policy: $400 (full commitment), $200 (half commitment)

We request that all participants competing in the Ohio Valley stay at the tournament hotel. A $100 hotel fee has been automatically added to every registration. If you stay at a tournament hotel or are a local school, we will waive that fee. Please email to have that fee removed from your registration. Meeting our hotel contact obligation is essential for our ability to bring in tournament staff, and securing elimination round space.
