JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Information &Advice Outreach Co-ordinator (South East)

Job Location: South East Hampshire – based at Malmesbury Lawn Wellbeing Centre, Havant.

Reporting to: Head of Information Advice Services

Hours of Work: 21 hours per week

Grade£11,247 - £12,335 per annum (linked to full time salary £19,817 – £21,734).

  • To co-ordinateand strengthen the Information & Signposting network and provide accredited Advice across South East Hampshire in line with the Mission, Vision and Values of Age Concern Hampshire and in accordance with the I&A strategy and ASA accreditation. This role requires the co-ordinator to work to the Head of I&A Services but also liaise closely with the Health & Wellbeing Services Manager (South East). The post will be based at a South East Wellbeing Centre with at least 75% of the role being away from the office.
BACKGROUND

Age Concern Hampshire provides Information & Advice and Wellbeing Services across Hampshire. Our accredited Advice Teams are based in Winchesterwith a network of staff and volunteers providing basic Information, and signposting more complex enquiries to the Advice Team.Our Wellbeing services include day care, activity centres, foot care clinics, cafes and road shows; I&A is seen as a key component of these services.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Attend Age Concern Hampshire events and services, including cafes, roadshows, day centres and activity centres, to proactively provide a basic level of information provision including leaflets and signposting to local activities and services.
  • Identify clients and enquiries that may benefit from a more comprehensive advice service and either provide this face to face or refer to Age Concern Hampshire’s accredited Advice teams.
  • Attend external events and give talks to provide advice, information & signposting and promote the services of Age Concern Hampshire. The post holder will be required to work independently representing ACH at events and will attend services including cafes, roadshows. Be aware of services for older people in Hampshire and feedback news and developments to the I&A team through the appropriate channels.
  • Work as part of the wider I&A team to update all staff and volunteers on key developments and issues relating to older people.
  • Work with partner organisations under the direction of the Head of I&A Services to strengthen our working relationships and develop more comprehensive services for our clients, for example, our legal advice clinics.
  • Book appointments and look after clients who use services such as legal advice clinics.
  • Ensure all enquiries, feedback and other informationis accurately recorded, and reports for monitoring are produced clearly and on time in accordance with Service Level Agreements and accreditation requirements.
  • To work with colleagues to help with promotion and press coverage.
  • To recruit and supervise volunteers where appropriate to assist in providing and developing the basic information & signposting services. Most volunteers’ contributions will be through participation in external events/roadshows.
  • Ensure rotas and duties are planned and clearly communicated to volunteers.
  • Work to ensure that volunteers are appreciated and feel a valued part of the organisation.
  • To maintain volunteer records, data and training schedules where necessary.
  • To attend meetings, training and update events at HQ and other locations where required.
  • Provide cover for other members of the Information & Advice team during periods of sickness and holiday.
  • Undertake general office administration duties where necessary to support both I&A services and the Wellbeing Services.
  • To undertake any other such duties as may be required that are consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the post.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS/ REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience of providing quality advice in a professional setting.
  • High level of knowledge of key factors affecting older people including benefits, housing, care and health.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to convey your enthusiasm for what we do.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • The ability to carry boxes of leaflets to and from the carand equipment such as parts of a display stand to then erect at the event is required. Training and guidance would be provided in the setting up of such stands.
  • Occasionally, due to the nature of venues booked for events, the post holder will also need to set out a limited number of chairs for those attending the event and stack them away, though volunteers may also be able to assist.
  • A good understanding of the issues facing older people in Hampshire and more widely.
  • An ability to recruit and supervise volunteers across a wide geographical area.
  • Excellent organisation and administration skills.
  • Excellent IT skills including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
  • Driving license and own transport.
