3rd week / Application of Learning.com
Students will apply learning by creating a simple PowerPoint about themselves
Open Microsoft PowerPoint
Create Title Slide – Choosing Fonts , highlighting text and changing color

http://schools.birdvilleschools.net/Page/16363
This is the page for Solar Max and introducing the Distance Learning Adventure.
On the resource page you will find the PowerPoint called “The Planets of our Solar System” Student can use this to research the information needed.
Using Big Huge Labs the students will make Cards for the nine planets in preparation of Solar Max the Distance Learning Adventure that start this week and runs through March 9 th.
If your Third graders are scheduled for this week you might want to move this activity up to the fourth six weeks.
Have students research the planets that they are speaking to Solar Max on. This project and planet images are stored in the El_lessons Folder, Computer Lab 2011_12.
For this activity, you will use the BigHugeLabs Trading Card generator to create eight cards describing
The eight planets in our solar system. You must include the following on each card:
• Title: Name of the planet
• Subtitle: Ranking order in terms of distance from the sun (ex: “4th planet from the sun”)
• An image of the planet
• The length of the year of the planet (in Earth days)
• Three facts about the planet
• Citations for your information and image source
You will save the trading card images so that they can either be printed or embedded into Powerpoint in which the students learned in the week 2 and week 3.
Alternate Plans: Timez Attack and Math practice
