Team Building/Goal Setting/Multiple Intelligence and Personality Spectrum Discovery Activity:

Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse

It is the year 2012, and everyone fears the Mayan prediction that the end of the world will come true. Just as December rolls around, a virus breaks out of a super-clean research center and starts to infect the population. The virus causes high fever and eventual death, but that is only the beginning. Unknown to the researchers, the first victims, the virus also causes corpses to reanimate within 36 hours, bringing with it an insatiable hunger for human brains.
In the wake of the emergency, each person is issued a packet of emergency supplies from the government. This kit includes:

One canteen / Water purification tablets / Duct tape (1 roll)
Matches / Pocket knife (1) / 1st Aid kit (small)
Flashlight / Can Opener / 5 MRE’s
Roll of toilet paper (1) / Battery-operated radio

It is soon discovered that the zombies (as they’ve been named by the media before the blackout) can be permanently disabled by severing the spinal cord through beheading, or by shooting out the brains and cutting off the brain stem. The virus is spread through oral contact, that is, by being bitten by an infected person, whether zombified or just infected (pre-death).

If bitten by a zombie, a person becomes infected and can spread infection. Once dead, the bitten will rise within 36 hours as a brain-hungry zombie.

Your task: Take the one item you selected at the beginning of the activity and figure out with your group a strategy for survival.

Your goal is to have all of your team members survive a trip across the valley, from Roseville (the Heald College Campus), to safe zone established in San Francisco (The Ferry Building), on foot (sorry, martial law has been imposed during the disaster and the military has commandeered all resources such as fuel). Anyone seen driving will be labeled as a looter or or bandit and the military has orders to shoot any unauthorized vehicle driver on sight.
You may gather items with you as you travel, however, you must remember that you are on foot, and must physically carry everything you wish to take with you.

Deliverable: each TEAM will turn in this sheet (and an attached sheet) that describes your list of supplies, the team members who survived, and a short account of the time period allotted.

Team name: ______Note Taker: ______

Below, list what you have. Cross out when the item/person is lost, used up, or destroyed. If you need more room, attach another sheet of paper.
