Congratulations, from Dr. Farabaugh, Dr. Marohl, and Dr. Vance and all of the staff of the Farabaugh Chiropractic Office!

While there are many exciting changes about to happen in your life, physically, emotionally and socially, and we want to assure you that chiropractic care is just what you need to help you through these next few months and beyond.

You may have heard very confusing and diverse opinions from friends and family, even your obstetrician, who were either very pro-chiropractic, or who would never consider consulting a Doctor of Chiropractic during pregnancy. Most negative opinions are due to poor understanding concerning the merits of chiropractic adjustments during pregnancy. The body undergoes very dramatic, but normal changes in preparation to deliver your newborn, often resulting in low back and/or leg pain. Most OB/GYNs and pregnant women agree, drug therapy is not a safe option to control pregnancy related LBP. Chiropractic offers a safe, gentle, and natural solution, often supported by progressive OB/GYNs.

While every case is unique, most pregnant mothers need limited care for the first two trimesters, usually no more than 1 treatment per month. The third trimester may necessitate increased care, depending upon the stability of the low back supporting ligaments and muscles.

What is the goal of care? Answer: Reduce or control recurrent spinal subluxations which cause you pain!

Traditional spinal adjustments are safe and effective to control pregnancy-related LBP. However, when faced with a complicated pregnancy, Chiropractic care can still be delivered in a safe and effective manner using soft tissue techniques and the Activator Method.

How soon should you and your baby be examined by your Chiropractor after delivery? Answer: As soon as possible, so that as your spine begins the repair process, it will to so with aligned and functional spinal joints.

Why have your baby examined and possibly adjusted by your Chiropractic Physician? Answer: No other type of physician is trained and educated in the detection and correction of spinal subluxation. Naturally, your Chiropractic physician is the obvious choice to examine your child’s spine. The first subluxation often occurs during the birth process. We are not suggesting the OB/GYN is doing anything wrong, simply that the birth process itself, even Caesarian section, can be stressful to the newborn. VSC in a baby may lead to colic, ear infections, or other common childhood complaints.

If you are pregnant, suffering low back or leg pain, or just delivered a baby, call our office today to schedule an examination. Feel free to call and discuss your case with one of our doctors. Again, congratulations on your very good news and upcoming “event”!

Sincerely,

Ronald J. Farabaugh, D.C.
